Les vitrines de jouets - CDP Theme Day

Looking out of a store window at the winter
landscape, the tin toys resemble paper silhouettes
against a palette of neutrals.

The theme for the City Daily Photo Bloggers
on this first day of March:  A photo that is in color
but appears almost as a black and white shot.

Palais Royal - des ombres

Palais Royal

The lamps at Palais Royal are
distinctive and recognizable.

The shadow almost resembles
a contact print on the promenade wall.

Lumière du matin

Morning Light

So, is the light magical
in Paris or am I just so
enamored with Paris
that I overlook the ordinary?

Fondation Louis-Vuitton

Fondation Louis-Vuitton

What genius to have designed this intriguing structure at
the edge of Bois de Boulogne.  One has a feeling of
riding an enormous ship high above the Bois de Boulogne
with a view of the Paris skyline in the distance.

Fondation Louis-Vuitton

Louis Vuitton Foundation

This creative structure designed by Frank Gehry,
is an architectural wonder.  To say that it was
a challenge to build/assemble is a gross understatement.

The exterior resembles a ship with billowing sails,
an image reinforced by the movement
of moving water.

Palais Royal - Didier Ludot

Didier Ludot

The exquisite styles of decades past
are offered here at Didier Ludot, tempting haut couture
at unbelievable prices.

The displays suggest not only the dresses
but the jewelry and other accessories of that decade.

You know the place now where
"everything old is new again."

Eglise Saint-Paul Saint-Louis

Eglise Saint-Paul Saint-Louis

Tucked in a corner of this beautiful and storied church sits this
confessional, obscured in semi-darkness.

The rays of light entering a church window illuminate
the corner confessional, revealing a warm patina.

Église Saint Pierre de Montmartre

Saint Pierre de Montmartre

Built on the site of a Roman temple and a 7th century Merovingian church,
Saint Pierre de Montmartre was consecrated in 1147
and is one of the oldest churches in Paris.

When all of Montmartre is crowded,
Saint Pierre offers a quiet and cool respite
with shadows and architectural details to discover.

Le Métro - après minuit

The Métro
(after midnight)

Truly, the deep interior of the Métro looks the same day or night,
but in the very late hours before closing the sounds are amplified.

The clicking of heels,
the laughter of party-people,
and often an eerie silence
in the curved halls
that snake from platform to platform.
