Une petite fille

Not quite tall enough...

This petite fille is quite prepared to gain entrance to her home
using the chasse-roue as a step to reach the bell.

Must be a French girl

I didn't know they were called "chase roue"; it makes sense.

Love the flounce on her skirt. Très chic! It is perfect in B&W.

I had to look up the term myself. I can't recall if it's a term that made it into the French-Canadian vocabulary.

What a wonderful study! You always find the most fascinating children and people and catch them at their best. Now, off to the dictionary!

Dear Jane and Lance, I am fascinated by the many varieties of the chasse-roue and thank my blog friend Julie from Sydney, Australia who introduced the term to me when we met in Paris years ago. I bet that there are some in Budapest.

Joe, she was running to get her grandfather from inside as her parents were sitting on the edge of the canal waiting.

Sawdust, now you can document all the different shapes and materials of chasse-roue. I believe that there is another term, but I have forgotten it.

Nadege, I am honored to have told you something about Paris that you did not already know. Nice to see you here, merci.

William, it is not easy to find unless you already know what it is. I looked for some time before figuring it out.

Alexa, I think that there may be some in certain areas of New York. You will have to tell me.

Jeanie, on your next trip you can sketch them!

Jack, definitely a French girl!

Merci beaucoup,
Genie
