On our way to Musée Marmottan, we walked from the Métro through Jardins du Ranelagh and watched this chic grandmother strolling her little grandson through the park.
Il est tellement rare de nos jours de pouvoir admirer ces anciennes formes de landau... où pourtant nos bébés étaient si bien alités... très belle photo. Gros bisous.
Unfortunately, it has been reported in "Le Figaro" that this woman is a dastardly and nefarious kidnapper, Genie....and that your photo is being used as states evidence! Felicitations! You are the Perry Mason of photographers!
Hmmm, in the U.S. this could be the Mom. If my professional daughters don't hurry up and make me a grandmother, I will be too old to push the pram.:( Great shot!
While she looks quite chic strolling through the Jardins du Ranelagh, imagine the strange looks we would get pushing a pram through the park! Our strollers, even the expensive Bugaboos, just can't quite measure up on the sophistication scale. On the other hand, we're a big country with wide open spaces and going to the park involves driving. Fitting a pram into the car for a stroll in the park would be exhausting. Still, wouldn't it be fun?!
Oh I don't think i knew that you went to the Marmatton this visit. Lovely isn't it! That is a nice parc as well You don't see those wonderful old prams much any more here but in Paris they seem to still be quite popular. V
Looks lovely. Love the pram! Wish we used those more over here. I've always loved them but the last time I checked on the prcie it was quite expensive. But never mind, I'm happy to no longer need one!
Nice capture, Genie! When my kids were babies, my mother kept a pram just like this at her house for our visits. On the other hand, I was playing in Central Park recently with a young friend's baby, and assumptions were made. :~}
I love this photo mom! And the pram (I assume it is a Silver Cross) looks so much lighter than my antique one. Now, the REAL question is how does she get it up the spiral staircase to the 5th etage apartment?!
Sylvia -- The truth is that Marie and I chased her down!
Grace -- You do see a fair number of these in Paris, often pushed by nannies or grandmothers as seen here. I believe that this style of pram is still made, but is very expensive... like a car!
Starman -- It is a nice walk through the park to get to the museum. There is a bus stop just opposite the museum door which Marie and I caught as we left the area.
Bear -- It does have a very elegant look but the little portable strollers seen now are more manageable... This pram turns like a large truck!
martine -- Oui, et j'ai plusiers photos faites au cours de différents voyage é Paris de ces poussettes anciennes... merci!
Kristin -- Merci, mon amie!
beau gosse -- You are funny and not too far off the truth... not about "la grandmère" but about me as I am always trying to figure out a story... merci!
Anni -- Yes, and I am sure that the moments are cherished
Vreni -- Indeed!
Malyss -- I think so also. Holly has an old (antique?) one that she used for her babies. They are built like a fine car and almost as heavy!
Dianne -- Yes, she was dressed for the day, elegantly... so French!
Deslilas -- Hah! C'est vrai!
Shell -- They are still made, a brand "Silver Cross" which sells for about $3,000 new - eek!
Andy -- I have seen some photos of your precious grands and you are indeed "cool!"
Janey -- You are too funny, my friend... If it takes a few years you can treat the pram like a walker - hah!
Liz -- Read what my daughter Holly had to say. She has one and enjoyed pushing it on the sidewalks. The biggest problem was getting it up the few steps to the front porch!
Jack -- She was walking at a brisk pace and could have outrun me even pushing the pram!
Kate -- This shot was taken in April and it was a bit chilly in the shade that day.
biebkriebels -- You have described it perfectly as a "Rolls Royce"
Virginia -- We went (again) but it was closed for set-up of a new exhibit... Got some great photos along the way though!
Gringo -- Merci, mon ami.
Tammy -- Yes, very expensive. Holly was able to find one at an antique store in excellent shape... I think that it is now a "cat bed" - hah!
Loree -- It is probably English, but in this setting it does indeed look French! Merci..
Alexa -- Of course they would assume that you were the mama, you young thing!
Holly -- Thanks for the name... I could not remember. Ah yes, the matter of getting it up the steps!! How indeed?
The problem with that bus stop is that you can't ride the bus to the musée unless you pay to get back on. Of course, there was no problem getting on the bus there.
Love this shot!! I like how the light highlights grand-mama's hair and sleeve, while she is in the shadows, and walking towards the sun light. How nice to have the flowers add a splash of color in the lower left-- good eye. Chic pram [and lady] , BUT unstable weight distribution [pram, that is]-- probably couldn't sell it in the USA due its ease of tipping over--
Marie -- Although I have been I would love to return... We will call ahead next time!
Amanda -- Don't you love the full word for pram... "perambulator" just rolls off the tongue!
Starman -- We had a Paris Visite card so we just hopped on the bus and went where it took us... hard to go wrong in Paris!
Stan -- You can actually buy them in the US but I guess you have to sign a waiver or something... We have lots more lawyers than they do in Paris (and some of them are in my own family - eek!)

Des moments privilégiés...
Belle journée,
Pierre
What a perfect capture!! I love it! You do manage to get the really great shots, Genie! Have a wonderful week!
Sylvia
The pram is also very chic Genie, of course! Looks like it might be an old family heirloom, kept in pristine condition. I wonder ?
We walked through there from where the bus driver obligingly let us off and showed us the way to the musée.
A quintessential grandparent sort of thing to be doing. But the photo is as elegant as the grandma!

très belle photo.
Gros bisous.
That is beautiful!!! Great photo :)

Ha ha , the previous comment of beau gosse is rather funny !
I love the picture and the moments priviligiés shot as Pierre said it so well
Wow, what an old-fashioned and elegant pram!
This pram is fabulous! Comfortable, beautyful, old fashion but so class and elegant! Hard to find one like this nowadays!
Oh my! Genie don't you just love that pram and that trench coat - I want one just like that - so.... stylish so...(dare I say it) French
Les grands mères ont bien changé depuis Proust.
Does anyone actually make prams like this anymore? Gosh, what a beauty! A lovely scene, Genie.
Grandparents are pretty darn cool. I should know, I'm one. Then again I'm only cool because of my fantastic grandchildren. Nice capture Genie!

She has some serious tread on her shoes. I expect that she broke into a jog right after you took her picture.
My favorite photos are portraits. The grandmother is indeed chic as is the pram. Must have been a little chilly that day.
This is the Rolls Royce of the prams. It walks heavenly, you can push it with one finger. I once coult borrow one for my baby.

Hi Genie, Everyday shots we all see in a city....and you do them so well!!
Looks lovely. Love the pram! Wish we used those more over here. I've always loved them but the last time I checked on the prcie it was quite expensive. But never mind, I'm happy to no longer need one!
That pram looks so French somehow. Lovely photo.

Such a sweet photo.
Randy -- Yes, she was sweet.... and fast
Definitely fast! We need to go back there so that we can actually go to the museum!
this is such a perfect image. and the perambulator is magnifique!
