Talk about knocking on wood. Bit of a frightening face, there. But, no; it's not about to turn into a dragon. At least I don't think so. But in Paris, where everything is magical? Hmmmm. Better rethink that assumption.
It's very beautifully made, but those little claw like hands are a bit scary. Probably a big softy who lives there, with a good sense of humour. Good spotting Genie.
It is a very interesting doorknocker, Genie, but it sure doesn't seem Parisian. I will come back later today to see if you explain what kind of building you found it on.
Jack -- Well, I had to go back and check out my photos and what a surprise! It is on the door (double doors but only one knocker) of a children's school! Quelle horreur!
Rob -- I think that it is even creepier (if possible) because it has been silenced... (shiverrrrrr)
Virginia -- The color of my kitchen actually... yes, the hooks are to prevent anyone from knocking, knocking, someone's knocking at my chamber door...
Janey -- Yes, hehe, and probably much more effective!
Tammy -- Merci, I do also!
Starman -- Looking at the photo now, I almost expect it to move... If it does I may jump out of a window!
Malyss -- I have seen such heurtoirs... Have you seen them "silenced" like this?
Alexa -- I believe that the hooks prevent any knocking at all... You are more than clever, my jokester friend
Rob -- Ah, yes, let the puns begin
Loree -- I think that I would like an ornate knocker but perhaps not so sinister as this
Vreni -- Exotic but can you imagine what those school children think?
Sharon -- Yes, I added the sign on the building with the photographer reflected - Can you believe that it is a children's school?

he is a bit of a menacing creature....beware the one who knocks at this door!
Exhaustive artwork, beautiful details! It's very beautiful and your picture is great!
Happy Tuesday
Léia
I love it!
Trust the Parisians to have everything so detailed and beautiful..right down to their door knockers!
I suspect the original owner of this house may not have wanted too many visitors.
Mine too Genie. Makes you wonder what evil lives beyond the door.

If M. Poe knocks back, more than my spine will shiver.

Ah, the doorknocker to the gates of Hell? Temptation is always beautiful. So is your shot.

It has an Oriental flare. It appears to be silenced.
I love it and I love the green door as well! :)

PS Are the hooks to prevent knocking???
I take it that the hooks are a fore-runner to the DO Not Disturb sign?
hmm...I love the color combo though!
You're right. There's something sinister about this one.
In south, they often have the shape of an hand!
And just who lives here, I wonder. Perhaps the hooks prevent visitors from knocking too loudly? Don't know where you found it, but thanks for sharing!
Was trying to come up with a knock-knock joke. How about one in French?
Toc toc!
Qui frappe?
Génie.
Génie qui?
Géniale, cette poignée de porte!
Sorry about that. :~}
Alexa: c'est très bien! Très drôle.

Penny -- Merci, mon amie
Bear -- It seemed magical to me and I crossed the street to get a close shot
Amanda -- Yes, but notice that there can be no knocking...
Léia -- I think that there is a tiny face right at the hinge also
Venus -- So glad and merci for your comments
Brittany -- I have never seen one like this odd one... (cupcakes were delish!)
Joe -- As is the case in Paris, there must be a story...
Sam -- One can never be sure.... unless one knocks
brattcat -- It did make me think of Edgar A for sure with a little bit of alliteration thrown in (hah)
Grace -- Creepy little hands and a menacing face
Liz -- You are so kind, my friend.
Cildemer -- Merci, les heurtoirs à Paris sont intéressants.

Genie, Thank you for visiting our little neck of the woods... it isn't exactly Paris but It'll do.
You have a lovely world here!
Jeri -- Your little neck of the woods is every bit as fine as Paris... Merci!
A little creepy but also very cool!
I like the reflection too! :)
James -- Very creepy to think that there are children behind that door... I added the plaque (and reflection after Jack asked his question) Merci!
