Jardin du Luxembourg - un moment de calme

Jardin du Palais Royal - l'automne

Jardin du Palais Royal

October in Paris brings in the change of seasons,
seen here in the almost empty, assuredly quiet,
Jardin du Palais Royal.

This garden, like so many in Paris, has a different look for every season.

They all are special...

Jardin du Palais Royal - tout seul

Jardin du Palais Royal

All alone, listening to music,
a hundred feathered friends keeping you company...

and perhaps hoping for a snack

Jardin du Palais Royal - le weekend

Jardin du Palais Royal

On a Saturday morning,
these three were feeding pigeons in the garden of Palais Royal.
The little girl looks a bit frightened by the numbers of these assertive birds.

Still, a glorious spot for spending a weekend morning with family.

bon weekend

Jardin de l'Intendant II

Jardin de l'Intendant

On the secluded southwest corner of the grounds of Hôtel des Invalides
is this quiet topiary garden walled off from the Avenue de Tourville.
It is far away from the entrances to les Invalides and the tourists.

In my many visits here I have seen
families, lovers, readers, walkers,
and not infrequently a single person
enjoying the benches and solitude.

Square Gabriel-Pierné - un banc

Square Gabriel-Pierné
A bench of books

This little pocket of a park just behind Institut de France
was named for Henri Gabriel-Pierné,
a French composer, conductor, and organist who died in 1937.

There are some interesting features of this park
and the bench made of books is my favorite.
How clever a sculpture for public use
and I do not even know the artist's name.

Parc de Monceau - des amants

amoureux d'un jour,
amis pour la vie

Parc de Monceau is not just for the young,
but for those whose love has matured.

Ahhhh, printemps...
love is in the air

Jardin du Palais Royal - sous la neige

Palais Royal in the snow

In the first week of December 2010, the snow started to fall gingerly as seen here,
and by the 8th of December, it was a traffic-stopping blanket of soft whiteness.

The green leaves still on the sculpted trees
are a pleasing contrast to the white carpet.

Square Boucicaut - en l'été

Square Boucicaut

Early in the morning, this little pocket of a park was empty
except for the gardener.

Paris is often late to rise,
and you can have her almost to yourself
if you are an early bird.
