Le Réminet
The cave (or basement) setting for larger parties (or perhaps for a group of rowdy Americans) is actually quite intimate. I have dined both upstairs and down.
I think that we took about 100 photos of the black Cafés Richard cup, another 50 of the candlelight and wine glasses, many covert photos of the other diners, and then we took photos of their table when they left. We took photos of each other, of reflections, of the blackboard menu...
Can you figure out why they put us in the basement?
(We took photos of the kitchen and the bathroom, too - shhhhh!)

Maybe. :) But i love this photo! It looks cozy and fun. Away from the rest of the world and its busy-ness. (Not a word, i know.) I would have wanted to take lots of photos too.
Could it be because you are Americans! Ha I remember you wanting a Richard's cup. Did you ever get one? :)
Une très belle ambiance... où j'aurais aimé me trouver...
Gros bisous

I have seen one of these cave restaurants on the TV before. I'm sure it makes an interesting setting for a meal!

I have a sneaking suspicion this Monsieur had an inkling he was in your sights Genie. Sounds like you had a fabulous time.
You make me smile. Seeing that you can blog every day about Paris, even when you're back to USA, always made me think that you should take millions of pictures when yiu're here! It seems that I was right! :o)But shhhhhhh . . .
I have eaten in many basement levels in Paris Restaurants. I think they want to hide their American patrons. But, I find it cozy down there.
I bet y'all had fun misbehaving ...I would have joined right in! Janey
Fond, fun memories of a delightful dining experience in this cave ... Lovely capture and reflection!
love all the photo taking .. i do that too ...
In Paris in October, I took a picture of a handsome young Parisian guy sitting right next to me at an outdoor cafe table. He sat down at the table with an ear bud in place and began reading some notes on paper. I made as if twiddling with my camera and he was never wise as to what was going on when I snapped his picture. Luckily, my camera was positioned just right. Since then, friends and I have studied his picture several times, trying to guess what his occupation might be, etc. Sneaky me!
P. S. Our waiter at the Cafe de Flore let me snap his smiling face--he was a real sweetheart! Naturally, we left him an extra generous tip.
Yes -- maybe, but I do love your photos and I would have wanted to do the same thing, so guess I would have ended up in the basement, too! But that looks great, too! Wishing you and your family a very loving, beautiful and Merry Christmas, Genie!! Enjoy!!
Hugs

So does this mean you're going to do a Cave Series?
If you arrive a bit late, are more than two... I think that it must be downstairs, Americans or not. ... and somehow I think I prefer the cave... in good company!
I especially like this one. His posture is perfect to be reflected in this scene. It just reflects the character of the whole place!
Hello Genie, I have not visited for a while. I have truly been missing out. Your photography always amazes me . . . I love your perspective on people and events. I hope that you are enjoying the holidays. I'm sending all my best wishes your way.
Connie :)
Really great shot!
Excellent covert action, Genie! I love this photo.
Looks like a marvelous place. I like the reflection too.
I am going to put this restaurant on the list for the next trip.
You are a woman after my own heart, Genie!
Wonderful shot!!!
I had no idea there was a basement/cave level at this restaurant. I must report that they seated my 92 year old friend and I in the main dining room at street level when we were there in Oct. FYI: We were on very good behavior!
