Jardin des Tuileries
In the steady rain, the serious still play pétanque
It was not a slight drizzle but more rain than I have seen in Paris before.
They were drenched but did not seem to mind.

First things first, Genie.
Hi Genie, wanted to let you know, I saw your message much too late, and couldn't have gotten in to Paris that Monday night... work has been absolutely, positively insane lately, trying to hold the fort together while things are unraveling right and left ! No rest for the weary... I hope you and H. have had a marvelous time, I'm sure you have... maybe next time... Many thanks for the invite though...
It doesn't surprise me that serious Petanque players would play in the rain. Serious golfers do the same! HAH I think I would like to learn how to play Petanque.
Hope you had a safe trip back home and enjoyed your visit.
Beautiful shot.
Love this photo...we got stuck in the rain today on a bike ride...it was fun!!!
Yep, I'm afraid Jack is right, Genie!! First things first! Fun shot for the day! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Like the picture has a mind of its own !
Now that's what I call dedication.
No doubt a ritual come rain or shine
oh, sweet genie, i hope you had shoes that stayed dry...i did not, i fear.
I agree with Kristie, my husband on the golf course came to mind.
Le jeu c'est le jeu !!...
Bien joué Génie avec cette photo !
Gros bisous
Persistent, dedicated and faithful to pétanque! Great photo!
It's the French equivalent of crazy US golfers.

Someday I will wish to know what is the essence of that game.

When it comes to doing things in inclement weather, Parisians are in a class by themselves.
A different breed, to be sure!
Yesterday was a global Urban Sketchers Sketch Crawl. I joined the Paris group. We started out in Luxembourg Gardens. The rain seemed to have no effect on anyone! We found shelter where we could, had a nice lunch, sketched inside Eglise Sy Entiene du Mont and just thoroughly enjoyed the day in spite of the rain.
