ah, this image goes straight to my heart. perhaps i should knit someone special to accompany me so that oskar can remain with you. but thank you for an incredibly generous offer.
Hello Genie: A pair of Repetto shoes is owned by one of us and, even years later, they are still the most comfortable and pretty heels that grace our feet. However, as for limbering up at the barre....we shall have to leave that to the ballerinas!!!
Chère Genie, I am very curious about the story behind this photo. Did you shoot it through a vitrine of a shop for ballet shoes? Or a dance studio? What I understand about the young danceuse is that she is very focused & intent on her work...I just love her. Blessings, Rita
Jane and Lance, and I think that I know which of you has the shoes! However, Repetto does have a men's line of shoes for street wear.
To all who commented on "ability" to get a leg that high.... I am with you!
Randy, I think that you are referring to the background which would be a thousand (give or take a few) pairs of pointe shoes (les ballerines).
Rita, this is taken through the front window of Repetto, and the barre is for all the ballerinas to try out shoes just as we would in a shop walking around to see how they feel. Check out my other posts on Repetto, most of which are of the window scene.
Arcoiris, thank you kindly.
Lynne, I think you could do it!
Starman, that would be the case for most of us!
brattcat, I do hope that you will take a cousin of Oskar's with you.
For a Paris lover like myself it is always a pleasure to dip into your blog which offers such a great cross-section of styles. This Repetto shop was very close to our apartment when we lived in Paris. Happy, happy memories.
I must confess, as July gives way to August, that I am one of the few people, apparently, who did not enjoy living in Paris in August. I felt as it lost its soul and I love Paris in September!

Lovely....

Looks so cute.
And her legs are definitely of a ballerina.
She looks a natural Genie. I'd best avoid the ballet bar though.

Absolument! Show me a barre and I'll fling my leg up onto it; and deal with the consequences in the morning.
;-)
I would need to lower the bar!
If that isn't the most adorable girl stretching on the barre! I wish I could raise my leg half that much! HA
Love it! A future prima ballerina!!
. . . especially if you're young and supple! Nice capture, Genie.
Recordé mis clases de danza de niña, no debí suspenderlas.
Hermosa imagen.
Besos de colores.

I hope those aren't cups near her.
Love it! :)
