Hôtel du Nord
You can tell by the atmosphere why I am drawn back time and again.
I said a year ago that I could be a regular here, and now it appears to be true.
The ambiance and mood speak of Paris in times past
and absolutely begged for black and white.

I would invite you to visit a new blog written by Jacqueline Bernhardt, a college student who came for the summer and now is hopelessly in love with Paris. Please stop by Jacqueline's A Parisian Girl Trapped in an American Body and welcome her to the blog world.

The light outdoors contrasting to the indoor scene, the engaged young people visiting outdoors in contrast to the waiting tables indoors, it is just lovely. And How wonderful that you have such a place to come back to! Warm wishes, Rita
The B&W is perfect and what a wonderful looking place! Yep, I want to go there! Your photos are always the next best thing to being there, Genie! Thank you for sharing! Hope you're enjoying a great week!
Hugs
Sylvia
Fantastic photo!
Your friend's link does not work...
What a great place and super in black and white
I´ve never been there, but it looks very nice - I vélibed by last Saturday on my way to my meeting with Paris Paul...
Hello Genie:
Seldom can we resist black and white photographs for, or so it seems to us, they are so very atmospheric and convey so much in the way of mood and feeling. This is no exception.
Shame on me; I never went inside. I promise to try it one day, maybe together with you (?)!
I could be a regular here too if the airfare wasn't so costly.
Indeed, B&W is perfect for this shot!
i'm going, i'm finally going. yeah! i'll see paris for the first time in september.
I am adding it to my list..
Mary, Janeen and I sat at the very table by the window! I love this place too!

Great photo and I love it in black and white!
Inside or out: lots of intrigue.
Yes I completely agree that B&W is perfect for this photo.
I see what you mean
but, is it a hotel
it looks like a café
thanks for introducing us to a new blog, if the blog is as good as its name....
Thanks to you, Genie, I'm now convinced that when I go to the Hotel du Nord, it will actually (and appropriately) be in black-and-white!
Wonderful b&w.
Vreni, I only wish that I had been there to "Velib" also!
Joe, save your coins and let me know when you plan a trip
Alexa, although the trees were quite green just outside the door, I really do imagine this restaurant in black and white. From time to time, I can see a chilled glass of French rosé and the photo of a handsome man on the wall (in color). It is odd what the brain remembers.
brattcat, that is just fabulous!! Perhaps Oskar can join you
Peter, we will definitely plan just that!
Jane and Lance, this restaurant has historical significance and must be seen in b/w
Happy weekend to all!
Bises,
Genie
The b&w couldn't work better here, I really like the composition, Genie.
P.S. I have no idea where the elephant went to. :-)
Thanks for the tip. You being as much as a regular, I have to promise to visit at least once, hoping to get hooked too :-)
Is it possible to homesick for a place one has never visited? I think it is now. :) Thanks for this wonderful photograph, Genie. And you're right; it's perfect in black and white!
LOVE this photo... looks like it NEEDS to be painted... YOU always have photos for moi to paint... merci for always allowing moi to paint them... KEEP snapping away!!!
ENJOY!
