Every Sunday at the foot of Rue Mouffetard, there is a joyous singing and dancing in the street. In January, the not-quite-French girl with the red coat had a full dance card while I snapped away.
I will be back there shortly to clap and sing to the sounds of the accordion. Join me!

This is exquisite! Love the action and color and composition. When do you return?

Holly made the Alabama delgation very proud!

Bravo, Holly! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
I don´t dance but I love to watch people dancing and saw the dancing and singing in Rue Mouffetard once - it was a very precious moment.
So happy mood in this post!Great capture!

Ah, Party time! I must remember this occasion the next time my wife and I visit Paris...Nice shot Genie!
Each quaver carried away a worry, every minim laughed at concern. The rhythm lifted his feet and the chords flowed through his mind. Monsieur Gilbert was floating lost in the joy of the dance.
Awwww.....such fun!
A great shot that reminds me of this fabulous market and why I find the French so endearing.
Bisous
what fun if we all could join you. we might all wear red coats and be not quite french together. i would even knit a red coat for oskar.
That was a wonderful morning - singing and dancing in the winter sunshine. Wish I could join them every Sunday, but will have to make do with a once a year jaunt.
Vive Alabama !!
Can't wait to get there! Is this an all-day thing? Morning? Afternoon?
FUN Genie! I love the way her red coat swings as she dances and I think it would be a perfect day to sit and watch everyone dance.
I love the sound of music. My heart and my feet want to join even the most complicated ballet, though I'm more adept at funky than at waltz or polka. Wish I could go along to share the joy.
I'm jealous...Good for her! Love the picture...Janey
This happening seems very nice. I would like to dance with them.
Greetings.
You are looking very French in your all black. Guess your scarf was under your coat?....Cute pic!
OOps that last comment was to be on V's picture (of herself). I think I need to move away from the computer..
In Paris, who wouldn't dance in the street? For the sheer joy of being in Paris.
Ah oui! A fine example of the French expressing their joie de vivre. Dancing in the street on a Sunday is my idea of a religious service.
What a good idea a dance and go dancing. Love it and the lady looks good in red. She has fun.
Wonderful! I'll bet your not-quite-French girl had no shortage of partners.
Too bad I missed it!! But I'm sure "the nice red coat" found better dancers than me! :-)
With a full dance card, I'd say the French men like the American in the red coat! Great composition.
Holly and her magic red coat are a feast for the eyes! I love the dancing movement of your photo. What joy to be on rue Mouffetard on a Sunday! You and D most assuredly need to dance a bit when you are there <3
Thank you all for responding to this photo. As you can imagine I am partial to the girl in the red coat. I am wondering if I should have used my favorite one in which they are both laughing as she spins around. Perhaps in the future I will pull that one out for a post.
The "party" begins around 11am on Sunday mornings and has no set format except full participation is encouraged. There are locals and tourists and on this day there were two very excited photographers. It is a chance to see Parisians enjoying the weekend and to share in a bit of their heritage.
Speedway, allons-y!
Brattcat, Oskar said to borrow baby brattcat's coat and come along!
Bises,
Genie
Thank you for your visit on my blog Genie !! and yOU ARE sooo lucky to get there again soon !!
Would looove to go to Paris/France again !! atm I can only dream and enjoy your pics :)
Ahhh...there's that fab red coat again!!!
A delightful way to spend some time, and a good way to meet new people!
Holly could easily be mistaken for a French mademoiselle in her tres chic red coat Genie. Ah dancing in the street, marvelous!
I wonder who was having the most fun -- the photographer, the girl in the red coat or her dancing partner!
