La Trottinette
Crossing the street with caution
as his maman coached from a few steps away.
I am amazed at how early the little Paris children learn to ride
and how they can make the scooters fly!

Parc de Monceau - zoom-zoom!
Parc de Monceau
As you walk the paths of this Paris park,
you should be on the look-out for little speed demons,
the charming little Parisians who learn to ride a scooter
as soon as they can walk.
...and they can really go fast!

Bassin de la Villette - la vie quotidienne
Bassin de la Villette
This is not a place frequented by tourists...
which is why I love it so.
It is a place where Parisians can enjoy a relaxing afternoon:
sunning, strolling, having a picnic, playing games...
It is a great place to observe the best of Paris,
to see the locals as "not so different" from you.
However, do note that there are no guard rails
and a meter drop to the surface of the water.

Elle doit être une fille française?
On the street, in the rain,
une trottinette rouge,
red ballerina skirt,
black and white striped leggings,
puffy coat,
rubber boots,
and totally unfazed by the rain?
Yes, she must be a French girl

Parc de Monceau - zoom-zoom
Parc de Monceau
This large, family-friendly park has an elongated track
for scooters, skates, bikes, and unicycles.
Yes, I saw one.
The pace is fast and furious.
Parents linger along the outside rails
enjoying a warm autumn Sunday afternoon.
