Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Belleville

Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Belleville

Believing that there was only one neo-Gothic double-spired
church in Paris (Basilica of Saint-Clotilde),
we found this one in November
just on the southern edge of the 19ème.
Click here to see an interior view and
a bit of history of the church.

There is an abundance of churches in Paris
and I am convinced that it would be impossible to see them all.
The same applies to cemeteries.

L'École Saint Pierre (la Rochefoucauld)

L'École Saint Pierre (la Rochefoucauld)

If you look up while walking on rue Cler,
you can see this spire and clock...

not found on the usual Paris maps

Cathédral Saint-Alexandre-Nevsky

Saint Alexandre Nevsky Cathedral

This Russian Orthodox cathedral, built in 1861, was
the first Russian Orthodox place of worship in France.

This shot was captured in reflection

Église Saint Germain des Prés

Église Saint Germain des Prés

The 1,000 year old tower
reigns over the remainder of the church.

The recent renovations make the tower appear
almost white against the bright blue skies.

Église Saint-Antoine-des-Quinze-Vingts - l'horloge

Église Saint-Antoine-des-Quinze-Vingts

Built in 1902, the Neo-Gothic style with light-colored brick (and a working clock!) belie the lovely interior with its Cavaille-Coll organ.  Based on several stops here and a visit to the church's website, it has an active congregation.

Église Saint-Joseph-des-Nations et la Basilique du Sacré Coeur de Montmartre

This view from Le Perchoir in the 11ième,
looking northwest,
shows at least two churches on the horizon:
Église Saint-Joseph-des-Nations
which is about four blocks away
and the recognizable Sacré Coeur in the distance.

Église Saint-Augustin

Église Saint-Augustin

This majestic church sits at the intersection of major boulevards,
and if you were to walk around the building
you would see as many as fourteen roads and intersections.
It takes a prominent spot in the 8ième
and can be easily recognized by its red cupola.

Holly and I rode our Velibs here up the broad boulevard Malesherbes,
and for our next stop, rode across Avenue des Champs Élysées
and then Pont Alexandre III - bravery at its best.

Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris - flèches d'église

Notre Dame

These spires of Notre Dame are intricately detailed in design.
If I had not been the one with the camera
I am not sure that I would have easily identified the church.

The drain spouts definitely help in knowing that it is Notre Dame
although there are many similar in and around Paris.
