Un café et des cocktails

a colorful café

This terrasse on Rue de Turbigo, captured my attention first for the colorful café chairs, but the Cafés Richards cups were my favorite.  The mixture of colors and patterns remind me of the simple design and secondary colors of Fiestaware.  After the 2010 trip an artist friend, Carol Schiff, created this beautiful interpretation of the cups, a daily reminder of my Paris obsession.

Le quatorze juillet - La Fête Nationale

Le quatorze juillet,

a day of celebration in France and not coincidentally my second blog anniversary!

Two years ago I posted the above photo as I ventured into this daily Paris photoblog, never thinking that I would be able to manage a post every day.  Please look here for the story of how it all started and the friendship I share with Virginia (Paris Through My Lens) who helped me "birth this baby."

The photo above shows two French sailors preparing for the grand military parade on Avenue des Champs-Elysées.  I stood on the baricades for hours in order to have a good position to capture the excitement and emotions of the day.
Now, I have a small oil painting created by Carol Schiff of this moment,
a treasured work of art that I enjoy daily.

Église Saint-Roch -- The long walk

The first sight each morning from our apartment windows was this grand church, Église Saint-Roch. I have featured Saint-Roch before with photos and interesting facts here, here, and here.

A talented and dear artist, Carol Schiff, has again honored one of my photos with her beautiful oil interpretation. These are the French sailors I featured on my very first post (July 14, 2010) and you can see the original here. But look at what Carol has created!

Zoom-zoom - rouge

This little number may be all over Europe, but this was the first time for me... BMW, rouge, sleek... It had it all

Want to go for a spin?

You may remember the brightly-colored cafe cups I posted on January 15th... Well a talented painter asked to use the photo as inspiration for one of her original pieces... When I saw it all I could say is "Wow!" Carol Schiff Studio has amazing paintings, many with the impressionists style that I adore. Mille mercis, Carol!
