Au Gros Caillou
The dark street, the hand-lettered menus, the neon sign,
the corner-facing entrance,
and this trio under the café lights...
You know that you are in Paris,
timeless.....

Love the black andi white. It fits the scene perfectly.
The night in black and white, a coffee and a side street, a very attractive image of Paris by night.
Et en plus il y a des "english menus" !
This looks like the "real" Paris to me Genie.
Wonderful!

Hello Genie:
This is truly atmospheric. For reasons not totally clear to us, we are always more drawn to images, such as this one, in black and white as opposed to colour. Perhaps they leave more to the imagination? We know not!
Hey, you're in my 'hood. In fact, our apartment is just around the corner from here. Anyway, it's a wonderful shot. Love the B&W treatment.
Night sky = black. Menu board = black. Clothes = black. B&W photo = perfect!!! Paris, bien sur!
If the clothes weren't so current, I would think this was taken in the 40s or 50s. A stunner.
It's a very atmospheric shot in black and white. Beautiful!
such a lovely photo, makes me want to take up smoking again!
And then you walk on just a short distance and find your self face to face with the Eiffel Tower—talk about icing on the cake! This is truly timeless in b/w.
A shot to be proud of.
Stuart, I wish that I had known that we were in your "hood" and we would have gotten you to walk the rainy night streets with us!
Alain, you spotted a detail that I missed, and how sad that the menu is in English - tant pis!
Lance, Jane, and William - It just seemed that this photo should be in black and white although I struggled to leave behind the rich golds of the lighting and the red awning...
Alexa, that was a cold, rainy but great photography night!
Thanks to all for your comments.
Bises,
Genie
How did Alain know the menu was in Abglais, I can barely see it!
A wonderful capture Genie!
And Starman, Alain doesn't miss a trick! :)
