Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris - un grand lustre

Notre Dame

This is only one of the grand chandeliers of Notre Dame
seen up close and in detail as it was lowered last year for cleaning.

The 850th birthday celebration of this renown cathedral
called for some major housekeeping and renovations (the bells).
I would say that this grand dame has held her age well.

bon dimanche

Will it be refurbished too?
I recall all the excitement about the new bells, it was all over French TV, I would like to hear their chime.
God bless you!

We walked to the back and down the side of Notre Dame today. Due to the festivities surrounding the 850th anniversary of ND, there is a hugs bandstand in front of this birthday honoree. The grounds were crawling with tourists. I decided that would have to visit another day as the crowds were unbearable.

We had some some rain late today, but we made it work with a full day at the bird market, an art show at Monparnesse, a long walk through the cemetery, and a delightful visit to Parc des Buttes Chaumont and Rosa Bonheur.

Tomorrow we take a day trip out of Paris to Provins...

I will give you an update tomorrow this time...

Bises,
Genie

You were fortunate to be able to see this elegant dame up close, despite the throngs of tourists.

Paris - I'm coming. But it'll take another five weeks... ;-(
But then - watch out, Madame! ;-))

Au revoir et à bientôt !

Uwé!

I'm hoping to get back to Europe maybe this year.

The first time I saw Notre-Dame in 1967 she was entirely black, never having, I believe, been cleaned. When I saw her later all cleaned up, the facade didn't look right to me!

What a great thing to see up close.

I had the same experience as Bibi—except it was 1965. You were lucky to see this up close, and we benefit too. Merci!

Wow! Lucky you to have been there to see the cleaning!

Il faudrait faire un lustre à 850 bougies.
