Bassin principal - Jardin du Luxembourg

If ever you are in Paris alone, Jardin du Luxembourg will provide your entertainment.

Sailing boats in the octagonal basin
Watching a lively game of pétanque
Taking a ride on a very simple carrousel
Checking on the bees at the apiary
Enjoying a performance in the theatre of marionnettes
Playing a sport: tennis or basketball
Strolling through the shaded gardens

or

Reading a book in a familiar green chair

Love this shot, Genie. This could be my little guy, the sailor, pushing his boat :-) He is twelve now but les spectacles de marionnettes (the puppet shows) and Guignol do not seem so far away... Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

Genie,
I love this one. It's so like my two boys. My Middlest did this same thing when he was in Paris last time.

That looks like such fun. My daughter sailed a boat here some 16 years ago. I remember hiring a boat for her. This must be a tradition that has lasted here for many years.

One of my favorite places in Paris. I have several photos just like this. I think it is time for me to paint one! Thanks for sharing.

It seems like yesterday, but my grandson (seven-years-old at the time) and I spent a lazy, summer day there playing with the sailboats. It is such a lovely way to spend some time!

We always try to visit this park when in Paris. On a trip many years ago my husband jogged through here daily on his way to the patisserie!

Sweet photo!

I spent some happy hours there in April...including attending the marionnette theater. I love those little boats...your photo is very French in its colors!

Years ago my kids sailed boats here...cost only 5 francs an hour then... Timeless photo.

The boy looks like he's trying to fish something out of the water.

J'adore le jardin du Luxembourg, j'ai habité 5 ans rue soufflot juste à côté, que du bonheur!
Je te souhaite de belles vacances Génie.

All of the water in this photo "feels good" on this hot day in Charleston.

cath, If I had lived on Rue Soufflot I would have spent every day wandering the paths with my camera. I am sure that you have wonderful memories.

Bergson, attention un plouf bien sûr!

Anyone who has ever been to this large Paris garden (2nd largest in the city) has specific memories of a period of time as Cath or of a particular instance, a loved routine. I would like to be in Paris long enough to spend a day reading a book in a green chair with my feet in another one alternately watching the world go by... le sigh

Have a wonderful weekend all! I hope to catch up with you this weekend.

Bises,
Genie

Didn't get there this time, but oh, what joy I experienced there before! It is such a haven in the city.
