Love this shot. This is a favorite cafe of mine. I worked at the American Express flagship office next door for years. I have fond memories of fun lunch breaks with my co-workers at that terrace! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
I have noticed many times that people in your part of the world start the day much earlier... there is something to be said for that but still... I admit that your beauty of a shadow photo almost had me convinced to TRY to pay an early visit to cafe de la Paix
Oooooh ... I love the shadow of the scrolled sign! Fabulous photo! We are early risers and that makes us miss people in some places but allows us to put soooooo much into one little day. An absolute necessity when there are so few days and so much Paris!
There's no mystery about the Café de la Paix. If you ever see a French person there, it's because they've been cajoled into going by a visiting tourist.
Oh please, do write more about the Cafe de la Paix. I've got very vivid memories of the place, having coffee and writing in the paper napkins, inspiration everywhere, the conversation high in spirits, dreamlike too...
Marie has stated the case: One can always sleep at home. When one has limited time in Paris, one burns the candle at both ends, to catch the shadows, the empty streets, the quiet churches, the low light, l'heure bleu....
Would love to meet all of you there tomorrow... what fun!

Beautiful capture! May be too early and for me too late, but it sounds wonderful anyway! Always love your photos regardless of the time or day! Enjoy!

Je suis venue prendre le café. Et y a-t-il aussi des gateaux?
Bonne journée.
Tables are not even ready, it must be very early! i like the soft light and the shadows here..
very nice picture. too much people in the afternoon, but it's a nice place to take a break during the shopping run.
The scrolling is gorgeous Genie! - the French seem to tread softly in the mornings - nothing too rushed! xx
There's got to be a mystery there somewhere. Great light in this photo Genie. I know .. The Barristas are all at a coffee conference in Vegas.
Genie, that's an interesting shadow cast shot.

Tracery and its shadow. I like the way it helps define the light and space.
Love the sign, love the shadows and love the location. Maybe I could afford just one cup!

Lovely cafe. I love the black printing on the window. Would love to have a cup here.

Just beautiful!
It's interesting how all the tables are all stacked up.

The early bird (that would be you) gets the shadows and the great shots!
Well, Genie, ya gotta get up early if you want those great pix!
