Inside, protecting their eyes and skin from the sun?! Parisians are like Seattle-ites, they are not used to that much light, especially in April! ;-) Bon weekend, Genie. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
It's hard to believe that even in Paris there are some quiet times! Pain au chocolat....oh no Genie, I want one sooooooooooooobadly now!!! Hope that you're enjoying your weekend.
Maybe a football match?. In France we have a proverbe: "en avril, ne te decouvre pas d'un fil" It means that we don't trust the weather in april, because it can change very quickly. Maybe everyone was suspicious?.. :o)
Il est vrai que malgré que ces chaises soient "jolies" ou plutôt "nettes" ne nous invitent pas vraiment à nous asseoir ... Elles font peut-être penser un peu trop à un centre hospitalier. Gros bisous
Where is everyone indeed!!! Such a perfect place to enjoy some wine and people watch!! Love the white wicker chairs! Marvelous capture, as always, Genie!! Hope your weekend is off to a great start, mon amie!
I think that this cafe (Julien) is aiming for the chic austere look, hence the all white chairs. Personally, I prefer the more traditional patterns of dots (Vreni had some last week) or simply bolder designs.
The ashtrays? Since you cannot smoke inside, the smokers do congregate in the outdoor cafe scenes...
Thank you, Malyss, for the proverb with its play on words.
I appreciate your comments and hope that you are enjoying your weekend.

during april? but we were in vacation. there were probably more parisians in bretgane or in the alps than in paris...
The cast-iron stands under the tables give it away. France. Have a nice weekend.
Maybe to expensive coffee?
I think we were just too early for Parisians and tourists! Delicious pain au chocolat for us and our choice of sunny seating! Bon weekend!!

Indeed. Where was everyone? Those chairs look especially comfortable for bistro chairs.

I like these chairs! But maybe the Parisians don´t? They are not really typical for a Parisian café...

Those white chairs with their wicker pattern are pretty fabulous! I haven't seen an ashtray in a long time, ha!

It almost looks like Café de la Paix, in which case I can understand why there are so many empty chairs.
At work, wishing we were outside. :-)
Well, they weren't there!
I don't know, but those chairs are very fresh and new looking. Perhaps there was a Wet Paint sign just out of view... Bon weekend, dear Genie.
I really like those chairs. Maybe in assorted colors though. Enjoy your Sunday.

Café Blanc. Et aussi Café blank (en englais) = Vide de la personne.
Quelle domage, Génie.
Mais pain au chocolat, pour tu et M; merveillious!
I always think of Paris as cool weather place because I've only been there in winter and late fall.
