Samedi après-midi

Saturday afternoon, warm spring day, and great friends... Yes, Chez Prune is a perfect place to unwind at the end of a week.  The casual atmosphere here echoes the low stress seen at this table.

Lest you think there are no critics of Chez Prune, the following was found on a ratings site:
"Chez Prune, c'est sympa, mais c'est vrai que c'est devenu un peu trop bobo ..."

Ah, les bobos! Nobody likes them, but they are everywhere it seems, even chez Prune alors! Mais où va le monde?! Great shot, Genie. I like the bicycle and the lady's reflection in the door (at least i think it is a reflection ;-) Bon weekend! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

It will be «Samedi, après-midi» in about 12 hours, here in the land of the Bear. I hope mine will be as relaxed as that of the folks at the tables in your delightful picture.

Bisous, from Bear.

A terrace is always nice to sit on and these boys seam to have a nice time. I only don't understand the expression "bobo". In dutch it is a member of the board in a suit.
Is that what you mean?

They're together , but they seem to be tired. I guess they had a hard evening celebrating something, and now, it's the day after. They enjoy to share time together, good and bad. That's a very interesting picture, which tells a lot of stories.

I will take bobo in Paris any day!

I love the picture Genie, very Henri Bresson style, could only be B&W, but you have to translate that critique for me , Google translator makes no sense of it at all haha!

Love this slice of Paris life but I'm still chuckling over CHEZ PRUNE! M. Google says" trop bobo" means a bit sore. H mmmmmmm. That's even funnier than the name!

Another great post/photo for the day! I love the results of your "people watching" and the B&W is so perfect! Always fun to take another stroll around Paris with you, Genie!! Have a lovely evening and a great weekend, mon amie!

The term "bobo" refers to "bourgeois-bohemian." Rather than put an American's bias or misunderstanding, here is the leading authority, Wikipedia (hahahaha):

"In the world of Parisian fashion, the term bobo (short for Bourgeois Bohème), which also had political connotations, was applied to "typically discerning customers who are left wing and Left Bank"; or, put another way, "that subset of thirty- or forty-something-year-olds who don't allow their socialist leanings to interfere with an enjoyment of material pleasures." The bobo style of dress has been described as "retro-hippie-shabby-chic.""

Not a baseball cap in sight. Clearly we're not in N.America.

I have to admit that being retired for five years, I've pretty much forgotten that weekends were special.

A rough translation of the rating comment: Chez Prune, it's great/nice, but for real it's become a bit bobo (Bourgeois Bohème). Funny

Looks like "guy's day out". They look quite dapper and relaxed conversing about some deep and intellectual issue of which we no nothing about. LOL LOL

Genie, how do you take these pictures without people noticing? Or do they? Just curious.

Thanks for coming by my place, Genie!

I really like your last several black and white posts; I love candid shots. I'm shy about taking them, though: I don't want to intrude on people's lives by pointing a camera at them!

Trop bobo or not, I think I'd like it there.

a timeless shot! could be anytime from the fifties till now! amazing as always!

Nice photo, as usual! "Pretentious" is a good synonym for "Bobo". "Pseudo-intellectual" is as well.

Ratings are just the rater's opinion. I don't worry too much about one rating. if there are 100, maybe it tells us something. This might be called "photo verite."

Looks like my kind of meeting.

A Saturday afternoon Chez Prune sounds (and looks) good to me! Actually, when I was there with my girls in March, I was the oldest person in the place by 25 or 30 years. And the men far outnumbered the women, I noticed.

Thank you all for your comments and I think that on my next visit I will have a seat here for awhile.

Alexa, I took this photo knowing that you and your girls had just been there. I bet that they loved it!

Wonderful atmosphere here and great choice of b&w. I love the comment about the place being too "bobo" :-)

If trop bobo is that relaxing then I'm all for it.
