L'Hôtel de Sens - Jardin

With the intriguing Hôtel de Sens on the other side of this formal garden, this gentleman preferred to work his puzzle. The benches were full on this weekday afternoon: people enjoying picnics, relaxing with friends, or wrapped in plastic taking a nap (not kidding).

Eh oui.

I bought all of the microfilm at the G20, wrapped myself up for an afternoon nap...and dreamt I was Tristan de Salazar...and this was MY garden...and MY beautiful mansion! (-_-) ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz. Merci a toi pour Le photo, Genie!!!

Hi Genie,
I am not sure about being wrapped in plastic but --- i adore the idea of sitting somewhere in Paris and watching the world go by x

This is Belgium said...

Une bergère They are part of the "décor" in Paris, aren't they? The weather makes such a difference, people on the go, in the parks.. even wrapped in plastic ?.. will be watching for that on my next trip

I am so happy as I think I have wangled a few days in Paris this Autumn. I am glued more than ever to your blog now!

A pleasant, simple passage of time for this gentleman.

Wrappped in plastic?!?!

Wrapped in plastic to lose weight do you think?? I might try it at home, but not in public I don't think.
Hilarious!

Not a bad way to spend part of a sunny day in Paris! (He's probably just sorry he didn't have a nice big piece of plastic to wrap up in.)

Sylvia -- Although I am home, I am dreaming nightly about Paris... places I saw and routes that I did not take. Strange.

Richard -- Merci, mais je ne peux pas trouver aucune information sur ces bancs. Je sais que je les vois dans différents parcs de Paris. Quelle est l'origine du nom "bergère"?

beau gosse -- Sbbbttt! You are funny... I didn't know that there was any microfilm left!

Suzi -- This is a quiet little park which was filled this day last week with non-Americans, perhaps some tourists from other places. You will be there soon, mon amie!

Anni -- Yes, and they are quite comfortable. You see a variety of park benches in Paris and I wondered about the history and origin of this style... I am still researching

Diane -- How wonderful! I think that Paris in autumn would be fabulous... but I am definitely partial to the city

Jack -- Yes, and I did not disturb him at all as he was engrossed in his puzzle.

Grace -- I am hoping that Marie will chime in and remind me about the "plastic" but it seemed to be used to take a nap and not have the breeze. It was a bit odd

Alexa -- It was that kind of day when sitting in the sun just warms you all over

This photo reminds me to stop and enjoy some springtime weather before it gets away.

Hi Genie - I could do puzzles in that park real easy!!

The plastic looked like one of those reflective "blankets" that are used by hikers or in medical rescues to keep someone warm. it was a bit cool that day, even in the sun, so I assume the napper needed some cover to be comfortable.

The jardin was lovely and the spring day was sublime ... Your photo is parfait!

I love the readers you find in every park, cafe in Paris. Here? They'd be staring at their cell phones!

Wrapped in plastic? Must be a clochard or something. The weather is so beautiful too here, everybody is living outside in parcs or beaches.

Genie -- Paris and Beyond said...

Harriet -- Oh yes, us too! Before we know it the humidity and heat will set in and we will have missed our brief spring!

Dianne -- Moi aussi, but more than likely, I would be taking photos of something or somebody - hah!

Marie -- Yes, you are right... it was just that, and now that I think about it it was only about a week after the Paris marathon... someone probably found a discarded mylar blanket and made good use of it!

Virginia -- You are right about that, but we did see many, many data devices in the parks of Paris on this trip

biebkriebels -- Yes, with all of the people in parks on the weekends, there is surely not a person or dog inside!

When the weather is good in Paris, you'd be extremely lucky to find an empty bench.

Loree said...

Oh for some leisure time to sit on a bench and soak up the sun!! :)

Indeed, the benches are full full full all through the day at the moment.

However, I did take my jacket with me today as, early on, the wind was verging on bitter. I did not need it today. However, have just seen on France24 that Wednesday is expecting a high of 18C.

I have been spoilt ...

An action that seems to resonate with all of us. But, oh, it would be so much more fun to be in Paris now rather than cold and damp MN! Great shot of a commonplace but visually attractive activity for a talented photographer.

He looks pretty comfortable.

I feel the same way about Paris~my first trip when I was 13! I fall in love with the city each time I go back~there is always something new to discover! One can get some great shots in the park! Loved yours....

Such a lovely shot, of a wonderful commonplace activity. You can just feel what a wonderful afternoon he was having. And oh how I hope that your shot of the person wrapped in plastic is coming up soon....

Will you be going back any time soon? xox Alexandra

Starman -- This was my first April visit and it was not the crazy place of summer... Plus the Métro was not too warm ;-)

Loree -- I did a bit of that on this trip for not for hours on end... I cannot imagine being in Paris for a long enough time to sit still

Julie -- How delightfully spoilt you are, my friend, and I am so glad that our trips coincided. Your photography is amazing, only matched by your writing.

Kate -- Ah, you are so kind and I know that you will be getting some of that delightful MN warm weather just about the time we turn to "sizzle" on the Gulf Coast!

Birdman -- He didn't blink or move as I fired off a few shots... with a telephoto, I was not as close as it might seem

Jann -- I am surprised that I have not run into you in the markets! Thank you for your kind comments

Louise -- I have just downloaded bits and pieces of my shots, but I am hoping that my friend Marie captured this one!

Alexandra -- Oh, that is always the magic question.... when, indeed? Soon, I hope!

Have a beautiful week!

Randy -- I wish that I had taken my lunch outside today

snowwhite -- It would be interesting to know if this is a regular spot of his... I think it would be mine!
