Full Moon over Paris
There is not much that could take my breath away like this full moon rising in Paris on Monday. In all the times that I have been to Paris I have never been there for a full moon... just look at those clear skies and wispy clouds framing the moon.
Marie, Janeen and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner together on our last night in Paris and walked to the Louvre and on to the Seine for a night shoot. The weather was perfect for just a sweater or light jacket. We perched on the edge of the pool, chatted, told stories and took photos.
I am so glad that I was there as I do not expect to ever have the stars lined up so perfectly for me again.

Ah! I hope you did a moon dance, b/c it looks like a marvelous night for one!
Wow its gorgeous!
Everyone was chattering about the moon in Paris that night. It had a beautiful golden/orange haze around it when it first appeared on the horizon! Thanks for the beautiful shot, Genie!
A special moment shared with friends, in a unic place, is making a fabulous memory for you all..
Une nuit parisienne, un ciel étoilé, une lune qui sourit... Quoi demander de mieux?
Just perfect!
it s so graet, mystic !!! big hugh Kathrin
B E A U T I F U L ! !
Was there a musician in the passage of Pavillon de Sully? It must have been very romantic...
An especially beautiful image Genie, the fountain looks like an angel emerging and the green lights bring added glow to the scene....stunning!
What a wonderful way to end what appears to have been a very special visit.
Have a lovely weekend! xx
This is an extraordinary shot. I love the lighting and the inclusion of the fountain. What magic you've captured Genie!
It looks and sounds magical, Genie. I'm so happy for you. And I'd like to believe those stars will align for you again and again.
Being in the right spot at the right time got you a photo that is pleasing to the eyes. Way to go Genie! Happy Easter.
Gorgeous! Another wonderful vacation in Paris. You must be sad to leave, or you may be planning your next trip!
Gorgeous Genie. You caught it at just the right moment. Have you ever seen the moon set in the western sky? I have only twice when we lived in the islands and it was spectacular. Perhaps even more so than a sunset. Keep an eye out for it sometime. I don't know how often it happens, but it's worth getting up (very) early for.
Happy Easter to you and your family.
Sam
How nice this picture! I was there last week with my son and everytime I wonder the nice architecture in Classic and Modern styles near eachother.
Have a Happy easter in Paris,
Best regards,
Henk Knibbeler
WOW! This would be an amazing shot even without the moon up there, but with it? Again, wow!
Stunning!
What a very wonderful picture with the piramid and the moon!
What a great composition this is, Genie! The light is fantastic.
C'est génial ! and yes the stars will line up perfectly for you, over and over again
Samantha -- It was a great night for a moon dance!
Regina -- Merci... I was fortunate to be there
beau gosse -- As much as I wanted to see the moon coming up over the horizon, I weighed the options of dinner with dear friends on the last night in Paris or a photo shot. I missed the amber/orange but get to keep both the many shots like this one and the memories of the evening forever. Merci, mon ami.
Malyss -- As the commercial says... priceless!
Richard -- Il n'y a rien de mieux
Elizabeth -- Merci, mon amie!
kathrin -- Thank you for you comments, friend, and a big hug to you.
Vreni -- We encountered the haunting sounds of classical music from a flutist. I wondered if I could almost create this moment when I bring my husband to Paris with me.
Ruby -- Thank you, my friend. I can tell you really understand the magic of this lovely place in Paris on a full-moon night.
Brittany -- The previous night the fountains were not stirring and I have the glass-smooth reflections of still waters (more posts to come)
Shell -- Merci, and just perhaps they will. I think that many magical moments are created by the observer and so believe that there will be more to come.
Andy -- Yay, got it! Merci and Happy Easter to you, my friend.
Carol -- Oh, I am always planning my next trip with a list of places, food, people and things that I missed
Sam -- You know, I have asked other people about the setting full moon and they look at me like I am crazy. It happens every month! The setting moon is just before dawn, and may be at its best on the day of the full-moon rather than the morning after. I have pulled over in my car on the way to the gym (early, early) just to watch. Happy Easter to you.
henk -- I am sorry that we did not meet up. I ran into a Frenchman taking photos of birds (amazing lens) and told him about you and your blog. If he contacts me I will direct him to you. I am home with my family now, but have many happy memories of Paris... a wonderful Easter to you.
Alexa -- Merci, it was just there for the taking and I am glad the skies were clear.
Linda C -- Thank you for your comment... I hope that you will visit often
biebkriebels -- That big old moon looked pretty good over the Seine also... more later on that
JM -- Merci, so glad that you like it.
Absolutely PARFAIT my friend. I'm glad you were there to capture it for all of us.

Perfection! That shot is gorgeous--and even more so is your description of the evening. I can nearly feel the air on my flesh (little sweater in tow)! How I wish I could be there.
Your trip sounds magical!
What a great composition! Oh, how we want to hold on to all those Paris memories from every trip! Photos are a wonderful thing.
What a fantastic, breathtaking capture! I, too, love your composition! What a wonderful evening to spend with friends in one of the loveliest places ever and with a full moon! Awesome! Have a great weekend, Genie!

Everything -- EVERYTHING -- about this shot is amazing. (BTW, you linked to the wrong page on Newtown today.)
All of them in your photo are perfect! What a fascinating and beautiful night! Have a great weekend.
Oh, your new lense is FABULOUS!!! This photo is fantastic and it completely captured the culmination of a wonderful trip, delicious dinner, and treasured friends!
Beautiful shot! The moon adds to the coolness of the photo.
p.s. I deleted your bad link then I discovered that your other link was actually a link to my blog. :) It's fixed now though.
Sorry you have to return so soon, it seems like you just left. How cool that you got the pyramid and the fountain in the same shot.
Genie: It was so fun to meet you. That photo is GORGEOUS. I have done a couple posts about our Paris trip. I will mention our meeting soon.
Amazing! Beautiful, beautiful structures, topped off by that fabulous moon. I was struck by the juxtaposition of the traditional and the modern, too.
Magical and beautiful capture....Wish I had been there on a night like this. It is one you will never forget.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
The Other Genie
That is one place I wish I were standing at right now. Are you going into the museum?
Magnifique ! I'm so glad your lense could finally work out! This is a picture for National Geo! :)
Wow!What a well composed photo. Never been to Paris, but I am enjoying it from your photos. Love the mixture of colors in this shot!

And isn't it a joy to know that the same moon that hangs over Paris, will be shining over Alabama. We are all so connected.
magnifique photo :lumière couleurs très réussi
Such a clash of architecture yet it all works so well. Congrats Genie on this portrait of Paris under the full moon.
The best moon shot I have seen in years~gorgeous!
