Le Bateau Ivre

Scouts and Guides de France

On a Sunday afternoon a large group of Scouts
performed in the square of Église Saint Sulpice
and then walked to Jardin du Luxembourg.

The poem "Le Bateau Ivre"
written by a young Arthur Rimbaud in 1871
has been written on the long stone wall in the narrow street.

This lone Scout paused ever so briefly to take notice.

It is wonderful to see that words from centuries past still resonate Genie.

Almost worth becoming a scout for the snappy uniforms alone. . . and for the cultural outings also, of course. :-)

Trust a young French kid to note of the words of a 19th-century poet.
