Brasserie Bofinger - Taking a Break

Just around the corner from Bofinger on Rue Jean Beausire in the Marais, these gentlemen were taking a break, likely getting ready for the rush of the noon-time diners.

This is a favorite of mine, as I enjoy capturing people in la vie quotidienne, a routine that is anything but for someone who loves these vignettes of Paris.

  1. Yes Genie - vive les chefs!!

I'm so happy they weren't smoking!

With Paris as your focus, you have an endless cache of interesting slants on the city, apart from the buildings - as you have so well portrayed here!

    Love your post.

    Have a very happy week.

  8. This photo proves that one out three men smoke. Also it proves two out three men pay attention to you. Nice shot Genie.

  9. Every good chef needs a break to soak up the sun and refresh for the next rush of hungry clients, excellent observation Genie.

  11. Bofinger sends its sons out in the street.. I wish they would look happier..On the other hand, a job is a job. Like this kind of street photography and know it is not easy. Well done.

  13. What a great picture. I'm surprised one of them isn't smoking. I always see at least one of pastry chefs around here (in Brooklyn) having a smoke just outside the door.

  20. Jill815 -- actually, the one in the middle is smoking (maybe that explains why he's the shortest of the three). :~} I always love your shots of Parisians going about their daily lives, Genie!

  23. It is a good shot, Genie. I like finding people who are nearby but each of whom is in his or her own world. There is some of that here. I don't know why that kind of image appeals to me . . .

  24. This group was a mixed crowd and I (perish the thought) cropped out two young women and another guy, probably friends of this trio. I was using a telephoto lens and they may not have been too happy about "the capture" but I had already taken several shots, spoke as we walked by them and gave a friendly wave. Grrrrr.... another crazy American photographer.

The temptation was too much as the background color was a nice contrast and the lighting (morning sun) was perfect. They just looked the part of the Paris chef and cooks.

Andy, thank you for that personal, kind comment. Paul, where have you been?? I have missed your sardonic wit!

Fábio and Pedro, new to my blog, thank you for your comments.

Oh, I have not eaten there but it is quite famous. Have any of you?

    Bisous,

  25. I'm surprised they all aren't smoking cigarettes. Isn't that the big stereotype there? - that everyone smokes. haha.

How did they react after taking their photo?

  26. Compte tenu qu'en France les employés aussi ne peuvent plus fumer à l'intérieur des établissements, nous pouvons apercevoir beaucoup d'entre eux faire une pause dehors...
    Très jolie photo.
    gros bisous
