Jardin des Tuileries - Pétanque encore
In the evening of our first April day in Paris, Marie and I walked the short distance from the apartment to Jardin des Tuileries for some late sun, pre-sunset photos with Peter of Peter's Paris. You may recall the post a few weeks ago of the Pétanque balls on the ground with deep shadows.
Well, Monsieur is one of the two players that evening. I took this shot through the fence, waved, and asked permission to continue.
He took his Pétanque shot and then faced me fully and blew a kiss... an interesting game, Pétanque.

I love it! As I love all your Paris/France captures! Lovely memories! Hope your week is off to a great start, mon amie!

I always thought Pétanque had an air of romance about it ~ but blowing kisses takes it even further. How lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh gorgeous! A-M xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very popular game in France indeed!
ReplyDeleteCool portrait!

He's a handsome man Genie, How fantastic to play Petanque in such a beautiful setting.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes

Charming shot, Genie! Monsieur must have found you quite the Belle Coquette! :-)
ReplyDeleteaha ! the petanque player liked You with your camera at least as much as you liked the petanque players :-)
ReplyDeletealso like the typical casquette
oh that s my most favorite play to do that, we do it also at germany, big hugh Kathrin
ReplyDeleteand a charming Petanque player...
ReplyDeleteLike a knight ,needing an encouragement from his lady before playing, and thanking her when he won!....
ReplyDeleteOh, Genie, you captured him so well! The profile is perfect and I love his hand gripping the boule. What was I doing at the time that I missed the kiss blowing???? Rats, I should have gotten that photo :-).
ReplyDeleteInteresting, petanque with a kiss. The French are seductive people. Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteI think your pictures of people are my favorites. Every face tells a story. Mpnsieur is trying to concentrate on his shot, but his mind is on the pretty American who smiled so sweetly. Like the little boy on the playground, he wants to nail it because the girls are watching, haha. I'm betting he made it and was greatly relieved since he blew that kiss your way!
ReplyDeleteThe French amaze me. He is so well dressed...just to be playing games in the park!I like!
ReplyDeleteI think Peter should reconsider about playing pétanque with the oldies! ha Just think, he could be blowing kisses to eager Americans! HA
ReplyDeleteGreat action shot.

What a wonderful story to go along with this perfect portrait!!! Parfait!!!
ReplyDeleteIt seems monsieur had a different game in mind.
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember the Pétanque ball shot, I love it. Glad you're showing one of the players and it's a great portrait.
ReplyDeleteGenie, I know about Kapoor in Paris! A friend just told me the other day: 'Let's go and see it!'... :-) Actually I have like four posts on his work in London on my travel blog. I really love two of them and their cloud reflections.
P.S. I almost forgot to post the links... :-)

Can't decide which I like better: the portrait of the intense pétanque player, or the story of his romantic side! Equally wonderful, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteune partie de pétanque
ReplyDeleteHe's a charmer!

Once again the charms of The Garden.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, Genie. And he blew you a well-deserved kiss. Those French; such romantics.
Beautiful blog and images.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a competitor. Great shot.
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL portrait !
ReplyDeleteHave a super week.
Très belle photo qui traduit parfaitement une certaine concentration nécessaire pour ce jeu... Bisous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a flirt. Why doesn't that surprise me? Like the angle of the hat and nose.
ReplyDeleteOh, those wonderful Frenchmen know how to treat a lady. Great shot. Wouldn't mind meeting him myself!
ReplyDeleteNice portrait...
ReplyDeletePierre
This is very important in France, serious business!!! With it's own vocabulary, tirer, pointer cochonnet... Are you a tireur or a pointeur, that's the question!
ReplyDeleteHandsome portrait! Love the game, its fun to play.
ReplyDeleteLove the concentration. Pentaque or boules as it seems to be called here, is fascinating to photograph. The players get themselves into the most amazing position, bending low to throw. I love that he blew you a kiss afterwards. Bien sur!
