Wedding gown - reflection
One of the many windows in the ateliers of le Viaduc des Arts, this gown is centered in a gilt frame for viewing. This restored railway viaduc has sixty arches in which are housed cabinetmakers, musical-instrument makers, fashion designers, textile restorers, and other fine crafts/arts.
This Paris walk of window-shopping is found on Avenue Daumesnil between Bastille and Jardin de Reuilly in the 12ième arrondissement. If you tire of the street view, you can ascend the many staircases to the Promenade Plantée, the old train track line itself for a walk above the streets and sidewalks.

Very near from where my grandmother was living...Great way to offer the dress to the view!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dress in a beautiful window display. The Parisians do the most beautiful windows in the world.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful way of presenting, within a frame. Always nice to see a wedding gown.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous photo -- the gown is exquisite and the presentation in the gold frame is wonderful ... and then you add that beautiful reflection of the building ... aahhh Paris!
ReplyDeleteVery impressive capture with amazing reflections and wow that dress is outstanding, for a Princess for sure!
ReplyDeleteLéia
Beautiful! Thank you
ReplyDeleteI never tire of the architecture of Paris or the beautiful window displays. Great photo of a beautiful gown.
ReplyDeleteI've walked the Promenade Plantee but didn't find this area. Thanks for the exact location...getting my map out right now.
Beautiful and creative window display. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThat was always a fabulous place to window shop. I remember finding fancy Japanese incense for the first time there back in the late 1990s. How decadent I thought I was! The odd thing is how I always forget the Viaduc exists, and when it springs up, it's like seeing a friend on the street.
ReplyDeleteOh this is perfect. Mary and I walked the Promenade in June and ended at an Italian resto for pizza! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous capture my friend.

Creepy!

Love the "framed" wedding gown! And your reflections for the day are terrific as always, Genie! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
This has to be one of my favorites, being the romantic that I am. Pretty as a picture for sure. Saving this one!
ReplyDeleteRode past on the bus many times.
ReplyDeleteLove this image, what a great shot.
ReplyDeleteSo charming to walk past this display. You caught the mood beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThat is the best way to enlight this perfect dress... You framed it so well ;)...
ReplyDeleteNice one, Genie. You must be itching to get over there again.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I would prefer a simplier dress (the ruching, the pleating AND the flowers - that´s too much for me), but I do love the presentation of this dress. Did I already mention that last summer I stayed at a studio from which I saw the Promenade Plantée?
ReplyDeletethe display is stunning and the reflections add so much
ReplyDeletebeautiful photo
Not only the window decoration is cool but also the building reflections are great. Nice job, Genie!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful Genie! Rx
ReplyDeletethat is one classy window display - leave it to the french!!!
ReplyDeletebonne weekend, dear genie!
xx
Oh lol, I was just thinking of the bride walking down the aisle with a frame around her neck! Sorry, couldn't help my thoughts! It's a gorgeous photo!
ReplyDeleteLove Love Love! this shot Genie - just perfectly Parisian.
ReplyDeleteGenie...This is a great girl shot. The idea of framing the gorgeous wedding dress with that wonderful gold frame was a superb idea. It is so eye catching. The reflection of the building from across the street is awesome. Love this one. The Other Genie
ReplyDeleteI love the Viaduc area. And this wedding gown is lovely! Looking at dresses sometimes makes me want to get married again. (But only to the same man!!) :)
ReplyDeleteRichard -- Oui, Paris est plein d'endroits comme ça... C'est joli de flâner sur la balade piétonne surélevée.
ReplyDeletemartine -- Tu es drôle, mon amie, tu me fais rire!
Malyss -- Your grandmother had a lovely neighborhood... merci!
Carol -- Merci, et bon weekend!
Louise -- I agree with you and think that the Parisians are quite talented and creative in window displays
biebkriebels -- I think that a wedding gown touches us differently than the usual gown
Marie -- Merci, and perhaps we will go there in a few weeks!
Léia -- The dress is stunning and displayed so well.
Janey -- Merci, mon amie
Harriet -- If you are on the Promenade, there are steps down to the street level along the way. These shops and artist studios are underneath the arches supporting the Promenade. The first time I was here I did not know that there was a walkway above.
ReplyDeleteRandy -- Merci, mon ami
AA -- The fine crafts and art are displayed beautifully in the large demilune windows... It is a great Sunday afternoon place as all of Paris is out.
Virginia -- You will have to tell me where you two ate... merci
Lucy -- Well, I do not know that I think it is creepy but quite unusual (smile)
Sylvia -- I like what martine said about framing the spouse before marrying... a framed gown!
Tammy -- You should look back at my "reflections" as I have another haut couture gown that puts this one to shame - bon weekend!
Starman -- It is a long walk past all 60+ ateliers. (Thanks for your comment yesterday about my becoming more French... Merci, mille fois!)
Dyche Designs -- Thanks, I am glad that you like it!
rosaria -- Merci et bon weekend
'Tsuki -- Merci... I was impressed with how simple the display was but so elegant
Jack -- I am itching so much it feels like hives! Soon, soon...
Vreni -- This one is a bit fussy but it does look nice in the window
Dianne -- Merci, and bon weekend to you
JM -- The window reflections were very visible and no photo enhancement needed. Merci!
Rx -- Merci, mon amie.
Amanda -- Yes, they really know how to add chic style to a simple window
Ciel -- Hahaha, I can imagine that too!
Dianne -- Merci, mon amie!
Genie (the other one) -- I totally agree with you. The floating frame gives it a snapshot feel. I was glad to see the reflection which made it a great meme post today. Bon weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteHalcyon -- Oh, you are funny! I do think it looks a bit like Cinderella at the ball. (Glad that you found your Prince Charming)
A fascinating dimensional reflection! And love the touch of the frame like a hint of Salvador Dali!
ReplyDeleteGreyscale -- Merci... You have solved the mystery. I thought that it felt familiar, like an artist... Dali!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful way to feature a dress. The whole area sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteExcellent shot!
ReplyDeleteI don't pay attention to wedding dresses too much anymore, but that is a gorgeous one. And the clever window display.
I also love your blog header. What a city Paris is. Can't wait to go back one day!
Love the window display and the reflet. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks sooooo STYLISH!
