Place Maubert

This fresh assortment of seafood is seen daily at the market in Place Maubert. You can buy your sardines here, wine at the store next door while greeting le petit chien, fromage at Fromage (bien sûr). On the corner you can buy vegetables of the season and just a block away you can buy the best baguettes in Paris, Baguette Monge, at Eric Kayser's boulangerie.

It may take you some time to make your purchases as you chat with the vendors... very friendly and helpful with recommendations... (repeat daily)

  10. It's so nice when we can find nice people, have a little chat while shopping!
It's something that I miss here ( generally they are very closed, I mean no smiles and no conversation, sometimes inside a store, the attendant barely looks at you) :(

  26. To all:

Cath -- Thank you for the history of this place.

    Richard -- Alons-y! J'adore l'expression «mettre l'eau à la bouche» (Merci!)

Samantha -- Please bring the Pastis sauce and I will pick up the langouste!

Léia -- This is a neighborhood and I have been in this area for many years (until my last trip) so they do get to know you

Rx, Virginia, Malyss, and Cildemer -- I will pick up the baguettes and we will have quite a dinner. Okay, Jack, you can come, too.

Bear -- Oatmeal porridge is okay with me for breakfast so I can eat with less restraint the remainder of the day

Suzanne -- You could spend days just painting the scene here in this market area

    martine -- Moi aussi

Halcyon and Bill -- Please join the party. I would love some delicious grilled sardines like i had in Greece!

  30. I took a very similar photo! Place Maubert is a nice place, I also like Rue Mouffetard very much! But I missed the baguette at Eric Kayser. Well, one more item for my to-do-list...
