To all who might be confused... (including that silly Harriet) --
The national football (American college) championship was last night between Auburn University and University of Oregon. The colors for Auburn are blue and orange and the battle cry is "War Eagle" -- Auburn won (yay!)
I took this photo to send to my Daddy as you do not see this color combo very often and certainly not in Paris!
Ooo, may I take a seat? This is so inviting. I'm conditioned to love the color combination. . .our former church in Berklely had purple carpeting and orange pew cushion upholstery (tres contemporary, non?. . .Well, very 70s, actually).:-) If you add green you've got the perfect tertiary color wheel combo :-). -Kim
Yes, as always, the Hub watched another National Championship, while I blogged and played on my laptop. Love the chairs. I could use some like them for my deck this summer!
J'ai compris les couleurs pour Auburn mais je suis allée à Clemson donc je vois les couleurs de Clemson et les tigres! ;) Mon mari a regardé le jeu d'Auburn.
Alexa -- These are unusual colors for Paris chairs, but after seeing the orange Christmas tree, I think that the French do love the full-range of the color palette.
Kim -- Now, that is a place I would like to see and with no fear of some bold color!
Tammy -- Well, it was a pretty big deal in our state and some divided loyalties in the family - hah!
Jane -- Merci, and I will contact you... We'll have to plan to meet up in Paris on a trip!
James -- Well, it was the bright colors and the fact that I love the café chairs (and the café scene) that I snapped this.
Randy -- I think that the colors would do well and I know from your photos that you are not adverse to some bright colors
Linda -- Thanks for the comment and I hope that you will visit often
Liz -- Maybe Randy will share these... I think that there are plenty
Starman -- I am going to look back over some of my "beyond" photos from other places to see... Italy has lots of cafés and Prague and Vienna... hummmm
Bibi -- You are just too funny! And, you are correct. I also have found that these will snag a nice pair of black tights!
Léia - Moi aussi, and I would love to be sitting there right now with one of those little heaters sipping a chocolat chaud
Marie -- Yes, blue/orange are seen across the country and the color reference is made in the eyes of the beholder
Harriet -- Ah yes, we have a whole branch of people in the family who tailgate at Clemson. I took a group of college students to Clemson for a computer programming competition and had my first taste of their blue cheese and delish ice cream (not in the same dish!) Both Auburn and Clemson have the orange paw prints directing the Interstate exits. I knew you were teasing me!
Who would have thought....Clemson orange in Paris.....
ReplyDeletePlease explain. This must have something to do with American culture (if that;s not an oxymoron...);-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your café visit! Those chairs are actually pretty cute; although I wouldn't normally like blue and orange together.
ReplyDeleteAh to sit on a sunny Parisian terrasse ! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, dear Genie...

In trying to translate "War Eagle" into French, I was stumped...
ReplyDeleteI've never seen café chairs in this color combo—but how appropriate for all the happy Auburn fans! Good catch, Genie!

How funny! Never thought I'd see Alabama and Paris mentioned in the same sentence. It's pretty though!
ReplyDeleteGenie, I was awarded the Stylish Blogger Award and have passed it along to you. The details are on my blog. Thanks for being a great inspiration.

Congrats to Auburn! Good eye to spot this!
ReplyDeleteVery colorful. They would look great on my patio.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the neat picture from an Auburn fan in Alabama!

What's really interesting is that you don't see these chairs anywhere else in the world.
ReplyDeleteThe kind of seats that leave little marks on your legs...or else they did, once upon a time when I wore a mini-skirt! :)
ReplyDeleteI think these cafés are so charming!
ReplyDeleteLéia
Orange and blue are also Houston Baptist's colors so on behalf of my Alma mater, merci!

Love the composition, well done.
ReplyDeleteThe number of table and chairs outdoors in Pris is staggering to think about.
ReplyDeleteJM -- Merci, there are many cafés in Oeiras I would imagine
ReplyDeleteRob -- Correct, and in warm weather months it can be difficult to find a vacant one!
Ha! War Eagles even in Paris. Too funny/
