Un, deux, trois...

Oh Paris, how do I love you? Let me count the ways...

Well, this would be a start: La Tour Eiffel, Obelisque, and lamps in Place de la Concorde.

  4. Oh, Genie, c'est une parfaite composition photographique! I love the way the muted gray brings out the gold accents in the obelisque, the lamp post and the few lights in the ET. You have such a good eye and this is a fantastically creative angle!

  6. HA Jb is kidding right? I'm sitting here drooling all over this shot. How in the heck did you get all three like that? Color me vert with envy! You must have been down near the corner at Tuileries across from the Crillon?

  9. Joli cadrage qui fait de la place de la Concorde une ville de gratte-ciels toutes époques confondues ,-)

  11. Un, deux, trois...soliel!

(Sorry, that's the name of the French version of the kids' game "Red Light / Green Light".)

  12. One of my favorite places to take pictures. Especially at sunset but it's wonderful at any time. Great shot!

  13. An amazing shot, Genie. You have quite the photographer's eye, for structure and shading. Très bien.

In other news, un, deux, trois cats sank while swimming in the river Seine.

  14. Bibi -- Ah, yes!

Léia-- From this angle there is a size distortion... glad you like it!

    Picturit -- Merci beaucoup!

Marie -- This was an overcast gray day with just a little daylight. I do love how all the shapes "played nice" with each other. I thought it almost looked like three objects on a sideboard. Merci!

jb -- I am honored that you think so. Merci.

Virginia -- You are correct. It is the opposite corner of H. Crillon close to the entrance to Métro Concorde. Merci... it must be good if JB thought it was yours!

Sylvia -- Merci... glad that I am showing some of your favorites! Bon weekend à toi aussi!

Chieftess -- The bistro post is on Montmartre just a block or two north of St. Eustache. Glad you liked it.

Fabien -- J'aime bien cette ville de gratte-ciels dans (?) la place de la Concorde. Merci pour vos commentaires!

Loree -- Yes, and when I thought about posting this it did occur to me that I was showing a "tourist shot." Glad that great minds think alike!

Paul -- I learn new things every day here! Is it played the same way where if you catch them moving they are "out"?

James -- So glad that you are back! This is a great spot for photos, particularly sunrise and sunset. I will be there soon!

Bear -- Thank you for noticing the composition. Is that a nursery rhyme or song?

  15. Neither nursery rhyme nor song. Just the end of a story, which I have forgotten, except foe the "punch line."

  16. Andi -- Merci, and I see that we are both quite fond of Paris!

Starman -- Merci... I am sure that you saw this on a regular basis on your extended stay à Paris.

Bear -- Well, that's a powerful punch line. merci.

  17. Well spotted and composed. I think I've never seen such a composition before.

  18. Not as often as one might think. Our travels usually took us several blocks north of Place de la Concorde. I love that lamp post though.

  19. This a synthesis of Paris : the Ancient, the Classicism and Modernity. I love that view too.

  20. JM -- Merci, and I hope to spot it again in a few weeks under better light!

    Randy -- Many thanks

Starman -- I really wanted to know more about the lamp posts but ran out of time for the research.

o2 -- You stated that so nicely and I wish that I had thought to use that as a title. It is truly a synthesis and reflects all of Paris in that way. Merci!
