Holly and I stepped into this historic bistrot after a little shopping at Mora next door. The outside has the original 1919 façade with a tiny outdoor terrace, but the inside is stunning with its original zinc bar and XIX Century ceramic tiles. The wooden seats are reminiscent of the old time Orient Express.
We did not check out the menu but had a refreshing verre de vin rouge!
Le Cochon à l'Oreille
15, rue Montmartre
Ah, to be there to sip a glass of red wine, too.
ReplyDeleteI will be in Paris mid-February for a week, staying with friends....you there???
This little Bistrot looks gorgeous - with the zinc bar. I'm pleased you enjoyed your vin rouge.
ReplyDeleteDianne xx
I need to go to Paris with someone like YOU x
ReplyDeleteSuch an elegant place! So . . . Paris (is about all I can say).
ReplyDeleteA gem!

Flora Doora
I remember that! What a great accidental find that day. Can't wait to stop in again after another visit to Mora.
ReplyDeleteI love the tiles and the zinc bar is wonderful! Must add to my list. The establishment has an interesting name ... The pig at the ear??? Hmmm, am I translating that correctly ... perhaps we should discuss that over un verre de vin rouge!
ReplyDeleteWonderful that you found it! Small, but nice and spectacular! (I regret that I haven't made a post ... yet!)
ReplyDeleteWEll you've tipped Peter off. I"ll bet he's there right now, snapping away and perhaps enjoying a verre de vin rouge! HA I love the zinc bars in Paris. This is a nice one.

Looks and sounds like my kind of place!
ReplyDeleteBibi -- I will be there in 2 weeks and I am already thinking about the trip after that, but sadly I will not. You will have to share your experiences with me. One day we will coordinate on a trip.
ReplyDeleteDianne -- There is no bad vin rouge à Paris.
Suzi -- You are cordially invited... We would have a blast! Sometimes it is hard to focus when you are laughing so much... great fun!
Bear -- It is cozy, like a den... I think you would like it.
Jane -- We were just lucky to happen upon it.
Holly -- Yes, and from the outside it is interesting but there were only 2 people there that day. What a treasure of history, architecture, and decor we found. As I recall les toilettes were of the same decor.
Marie -- I love the zinc bars and bistros. It is a great search and place to pause in the winter months. Perhaps in the summer I would have totally missed the inside of this charming bistrot... oh, yes, we will share a glass.
Peter -- I look forward to your post on this lovely petit bistrot
Virginia -- I hope that he will post it soon. The place is beautifully maintained with the original furnishings with a new young manager (or owner?)
Parisian -- Put this one on your list and we'll meet you there!
I was hoping you had taste tested pigs' ears for us!
ReplyDeletePaul -- I will try almost anything when traveling (except certain raw or live fish). What about you?
ReplyDeleteThe place has such a turn-of-the century feel. Very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great looking place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and inviting place. I like the look of the old cieling in the reflection too.
ReplyDeleteLoree -- Yes, and we almost expected to see a few people "in character" for that time period...
ReplyDeleteStarman -- You will have to put it on your list for the next trip
James -- You have a discerning eye... you caught the beautiful ceiling. I also like the bird tile "crown molding." I did miss the wood seating in my photos, but we were trying not to be too obnoxious with our clicking.
Wow that is a lovely spot. I like the tiled wall.
ReplyDeleteRandy -- Be sure to add this on to your "must do" list.
ReplyDeleteA réserver pour la soirée beaujolais nouveau ?
ReplyDeleteFabien -- We celebrated today (as always) Beaujolais Nouveau! Merci.
ReplyDeleteNow that is gorgeous!
