Tower of Macarons

These macarons are guaranteed to have NO calories and will not cause weight gain! Aren't they lovely... spied in the holiday windows on Boulevard Haussmann.

  2. Oh yes, it's very girly! I love the flacon, too. Very pretty, Genie.

  3. I think I see chocolate, almond, cardamom, and maybe a framboise or two...Oh and that lovely cup of chocolate chaud with lots of creme! We will soon see this year's spectacle....hooray!

PS - nice reflection of the scene (actually, two reflections, and one of the front?!?) how does that happen...

  7. These macarons are so festive and unique with their fabric-like toppings. Miam-miam pour la bouche et des yeux! Is it beginning to look a lot like Christmas?

  8. Oooh, lovely! Some day I will downsize (so I can have that pied-a-terre you-know where)—and won't this make the perfect replacement for the 9-foot Christmas tree?

  9. They may not be real, but they were enough to make my mouth water! Who would have thought I'd need a bib over my bathrobe this morning....and I'm not even 95 yet.

  13. Brittany -- Queen (or at least Princess) of the pastry domain, perhaps you can develop a recipe sans-calories. Merci!

Bibi -- The real ones are exquisite!

Shell -- Totally girly! Do you know the brand of le flacon?

Holly -- And not a one of them will be as tasty as yours/ours. I cannot wait to see and taste it all! I missed the reflections but love how you can see the front of the display in the reflection. Thanks.

Lala -- Wouldn't this look nice on a holiday table? Your Advent calendar is so creative... love it!

Léia -- Well, these of satin, velvet, and silk have no calories but the real macarons are totally worth the calories. It is easy to say that when one knows that there is not a regular opportunity to devour them - hah! Bises à toi!

Shari -- They really do look tasty and unless you ate them, it would last for many years... I wonder what they do with these decorations once the season is over as I know that they are not re-used.

Marie -- When we first saw them in the window, we thought that they were the usual macaron tower you see so often in Paris, but were so surprised at the fabrics. Can you believe that someone actually crocheted the orange-red ones?

Alexa -- I will visit you in your pied-a-terre in you-know-where! I think that as long as we are dreaming that I would want the matching 9-foot tree with a similar color scheme.

Liz -- You are just a hoot! Merci, mon amie!

Virginia -- I wondered if Meeps had overslept too as he is not likely to sleep in!

Cildemer -- Thank you very much. I'll save some for you so come on over! Funny thing is that my other name is Yum!Yum!

Oh, and I can't believe that was you on the tramp - in the best form no less!

    Chieftess -- Miam-miam!

  14. Rats! At first, I thought they were candies.

  15. I wonder how it's possible that I visited Paris and did not eat a macaron!!

  16. Genie, as a veteran journalist, I am profoundly suspicious about the "No calories" disclaimer. (Old habits die hard, I guess.)

But your picture is such a treat to the eyes!

  17. I had a friend say to me while I was away that since I come from the southern hemiphere and I am holidaying in the North that I am standing on my head, therefore the calories won't stick to my hips!
    I love it. x

  18. Starman -- There is no shortage of candies in Paris. It's just that these are not.

Loree -- Come and visit me, and I will feed you macarons (and seafood) if you like.

Bear -- I can feel safe and secure in my "no calorie" claim since these macarons are made of silk, satin, and velvet... but they do look calorie-laden!

Suzi -- When you are abroad you walk so much that you probably do not have to worry about it. However, I do like the southern hemisphere explanation and may have to try it out!

  20. Randy -- However, if I had this around, it would make me think about all those (fake) macarons, stirring up my taste buds!

  21. Made of SILK? What a disappointment.

Quelle domage. Ce n'est pas juste.
