The animated windows of Printemps (2006) featured "color concentration" for its vitrines de noël with interesting music for each: jaune, rouge, orange, rose foncé. If you would like to see the animation enjoyed by adults and children go here for the video clip. In front of each window is a wooden platform to put the little ones at eye level with the scenes.Printemps

Wow! What an amazing window. I'll bet it took ages to design and build. But what a delight, especially for the young (or young at heart).
ReplyDeleteUne problem. Ce n'est pas printemps; c'est l'hiver!
The Printemps windows were and still are my favorite place to go/see in Paris at holiday time.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! i can't wait to show my petite-filles the video ~ they will love it.
ReplyDeleteYippeeee.....not long till we see this year's display!!! Each year I wonder how they will top the last...this one was pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteEnchanting! This must be such a delight for the little ones, let alone their parents.
ReplyDeleteThis is really cool! Great find, Genie!
ReplyDeleteYou will soon see the new ones ...
ReplyDeleteOh-la-la ... Je suis tourne au vert
ReplyDeletejust thinking that you will be seeing such amazingly beautiful creativity in just a few days!!! Put me in your suitcase and take me with you, please! This gorgeous photo is putting me in the holiday mood! Bon weekend et beaocoup de calins.
You and Peter are on the same track this week. He also showed the delightful windows. How cute is this? I think they're lanterns of some sort, or were! I hope you have more!

Bear -- The little preview I have seen of this year's windows remind me of the colors of 2006. I will report back in a couple of weeks after I pop over to Paris to find out! I count myself as the "young at heart" -- Oh, you are right! They should re-name this "Hiver" instead of "Printemps"
ReplyDeleteBibi -- Since Printemps and Galeries Lafayette are practically side-by-side it is hard to remember but the Printemps windows are ususally more lighthearted.
Dianne -- For the first several years you could not find any videos on the internet of les vitrines de noël. I am going to post again with others...
Holly, ma chère fille -- Less than two weeks to go! Allons-y!
Shell -- Yes, and I had to beat down of few of the little ones so I could get close enough myself -- JUST KIDDING! On the weekends, it is quite crowded in front of these windows. The children are precious with their little French voices. Why is it so endearing to hear them speak?
JM -- Merci et bon weekend!
Laurent -- and I will be ready with my camera to snap both the windows and les petits.
Marie -- Please come with us... you would love the holiday mood in Paris and help us as we discover places yet unseen! Bon weekend à toi aussi! (Memo: calins= good thing)
Virginia -- Wish you and Mary were coming on this trip and could meet Holly. Oh yes, I have plenty of the windows over many years. Bises
That is so awesome! Thanks for sharing the video too.
ReplyDeleteThe video is cool. It's interesting that you can't see any wires to move the legs. I wonder how they do that?
ReplyDeleteHow delightful, Genie! I love it! Marvelous capture! And I loved the video. Awesome indeed!!! Have a beautiful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
So funny ! Lanterns stealing jewelry... Thanks for the link for the animation : it is a real pleasure ! And it reminds me so much of hollidays in Paris...
ReplyDeleteLovely and funny!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing;o)

Have a nice weekend****
Oh, Printemps, I love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd so your reflections :)
Very cute! They have the best displays.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading all the comments, I'm getting ready to watch the video. Have a great time; looking forward to more photos!!!
ReplyDeleteRandy -- This photo is as yellow as the leaves on the tree you posted!
ReplyDeleteStarman -- Glad you watched the video. I think they do it with magic.
Sylvia -- Thanks, and enjoy your weekend also!
'Tsuki -- Oh, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Overall, I rated this particular year second overall. I can't wait to see what is in store for this season!
Cildemer -- Glad you enjoyed... bon weekend!
Elisa -- I do think that the reflections take a back seat to the action and the vivid yellow in this photo.
James -- You could probably tell me all about les vitrines de noël for 2010, but I am not going to peek for two weeks until I can get there and see them for myself.
Harriet -- Merci, and you know that I will come back armed with more photos!
Genie, oh, how beautiful. I love the video, and so are the reflections in your photo.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! I'll take two!
ReplyDeleteFascinating!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the vintage photos/movie clips I've seen of the holiday displays in the NY City Macy's windows.
After watching the clip I have to say that it looks very Disney, or Tim Burtonesque. lol
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely have to show this to my hubby.
And I thought the era of great display windows had come to an end. I am so relieved!
ReplyDeleteEbie -- Merci! Not any big reflections but lots of little ones...
ReplyDeleteGreensboro -- Merci! You got it!
Carole -- So glad that you enjoyed it. I'll have more to share soon!
Springman -- I am so glad that they still decorate like this!
I love the grands magasins when they are decorated for the holidays. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteHalcyon -- Ah, yes I found the other "s" and put it on my Galeries Lafayettes post. Merci for your assistance!
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by the Abandoned, and thank you for your comment! I love The Abandoned, and am so glad when someone comes by to browse.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your entry for Weekend Reflections--so sparkling and a bit of the odd about it. I mean that in the most complimentary way. These are wonderful reflections.
One never tires of pictures of Paris a photographic city if ever there was one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and leaving a comment.
Beth -- You have created an artistic blog around an abandoned site... just stunning. I am glad to see you here and hope that you will come back often. Oh, and I did take "a bit odd" as a compliment... merci!
ReplyDeleteOakland -- Merci, and I agree that even her less savory areas are photogenic... ah, so much to photograph and so few hours in which to do it!
