A majestic tomb
Rising above most of the tombs in this area of the famed Père Lachaise, three mighty owls stand watch perched between stone garlands. The crown supports a shield that surely identifies the family. How could I have failed to note the name and the story. Alas, a momentary lapse, but I will return for another look.
The skies may never be this blue again

Awesome capture, gorgeous BLUE skies and a fascinating tomb!! Look forward to learning more! Hope your week is going well, Genie! Enjoy!!
Very interesting and unusual owl, standing guard or rather waiting to serve as a guide to the light?
Such grandeur for a tomb. I suspect this family wanted to leave their mark on the world in life as well as death. I hope their mark was a good one.
Amazing lights and beautiful shadow in this image, I like the owl!Different tomb!

I love the notion of owls protecting tombs. Seems so fluffy and benevolent. It's a beautiful image, Genie!
Beautiful! The next time I visit Paris, I will make time to visit Pere Lachaise.
Somehow I don't think you need a reason to return to Paris! ......but that is a good one! I will be patiently waiting.
the skies were definitely not blue when i walked there...lovely shot, genie.
i am hoping for blue skies when i get there
And little round windows so those inside can see the bright sunshine.
What a wonderful pic
the sky looks amazing.
I Almost made it to France...we were across the river in Germany...
Looks lovely! Love all the photos...
Never fear, the Paris sky will be blue at least once more this year!
Wonderful detail, Genie! And I sincerely hope the skies ARE this blue when you return to collect that info.
That is wonderful.
Starman, you have such a drole sense of humor. Perhaps there will be two of those days... I can hope.
No matter how many times I have been to PL, there is something new to see or to be seen in a different light, a different season.
If you go to Paris, do not miss it.
