Église Saint-Augustin

Église Saint-Augustin

Architect Louis Baltard's design of 1860 sits majectically at the crossroads of major boulevards in the 8eme Arrondissement.  Its prominence and size makes it easy to locate on a Paris map, and the red cupola is instantly recognized above the city buildings.

I like the red cupola! I´ve never heard about this church... I just checked its location, I´ve never been to this area... What a shame! Well, I guess this means that I have to travel to Paris again ;-)

Fantastic angle! It really lets you appreciate the architecture and the crisp blue Parisian sky! Love the red cupola --- so unique! Bon dimanche!

Hello Genie:
This architectural style is so very reminiscent of many buildings in Pest which date from the C19.

The red cupola makes it a definite landmark, we are sure. What a fun addition to a rather austere church in the main.

Magnificent! They just don't make them like they used to. I like your photographic angle here.

European architecture is absolutely amazing. When did builders quit having the pride that shows in this magnificent building.
Thank you for sharing.

Although there is much to admire about this church, I found no information about the red cupola in either English or French. It was part of the Haussmann plan of the late 20th century situated at the convergence of wide boulevards.

These blue skies and temperate October weather made for a perfect day to ride Vélibs from one end of Paris to the other. The bike lanes make the wide streets like Malsherbes a breeze!

Have a great week ahead!

Bises,
Genie
