Galeries Lafayette
(Noël 2011)
One cold day last November, I met my blog friend Vreni (Vreni's Vienna Daily Photo and Verena's Paris Blog) to see a photo exhibit on Quai Branly. We spent the afternoon walking in the 6ème and 7ème and then rushed to see all the windows of Printemps and Galeries Lafayette. We worked as a team to get to the front of each window, a challenge with all the little children on risers built to give them a close up view.
Vreni and I were successful in capturing each window,
and she will be there soon to brave it without me.

Creative Christmas windows are one of the things I miss about living in a city.
Paris has the most amazing Christmas window displays.
It's a girl rock band! I wish I could have been there to see you forcing your way through all those kids. My imagination is telling it would have been a laugh.
i think oskar might be a groupie for this band.
Very cute! Did it have motion? I woul love to go some day when I can lèche vitrines de Noël!

I love it!! No better place than Paris to see beautifully decorated windows, whatever holiday, but particularly Christmas!! Great shot for the day, Genie! Hope your week is going well!

Beautiful Christmas display! So festive and cheery, every little girls dream! :)
I'm with Andy—it would have been funny to see you fighting your way to the front! Glad you did too—love this clever, colorful Christmas display.
It's too bad people don't celebrate the spirit of Christmas all year.
How gorgeous and festive. All that red! :) This window looks particularly special, but then i'm sure they all are. I love this blog, Genie! I hope you do it forever! :D
How magical and whimsical!
Très rouge! J'adore.

This scene is so red my fillings are vibrating.
Andy, Vreni will testify to our assertiveness. I did let the children in front, and tried to capture my shots as they were leaving and before the next group crowded in. I am not very tall and there were kids much taller than me who stood on top of the risers, totally obstructing the view to all!
M, there was music and animation with all of the GL windows. I must admit that my favorites were of several years ago. One year with an all-white theme and the one before that with dancing pots and pans of the brightest colors imaginable!
Oscar would have loved to be in front of this window, but it was before he was born.
Thank you for all your comments!

Good memories!!! Even though it was exhausting to "fight" against all those kids and their parents. I will think of you when I go see this year´s windows of "les grands magasins" and will try to take as many pictures as possible.
They both always have great window displays. This year Printemps had marrionettes.
