Two umbrellas
Quai Malaquais
(near Institut de France)
Looking down from Pont des Arts to the quai below,
it seems that the rain was just nothing more than an annoyance
for these two tourists.
Travel tip for Paris:
Raincoat (imperméable) with a hood
Umbrella (parapluie)
An extra pair of shoes (chaussures)
Oh, and a waterproof camera (appareil photo)

Well done, Genie. I like your composition.
What a great shot, Genie! And living in the Pacific Northwest -- I could recommend the same travel tips for those coming here -- particularly the umbrella and extra shoes!! Have a great week!!
Great as a black and white! I love the polka dot and cobblestone combo, and the partially broken black umbrella.
The umbrellas and the cobblestones make this both interesting and special.
Polka Dots shine through even in black & white. So cute.
Everyone is right ... the black and white, the cobblestones, the umbrella, the rain ... perfect!
J'aime beaucoup...

Belle ambiance dans cette photo!Le noir et blanc lui va bien.
Nice one Genie. Love your tourist check list.
Good day Genie,
We are getting the umbrellas out here too, as the monsoon season descends upon south east Asia.

wonderful shot. if only i'd had this advice before visiting paris...but then, would i have heeded it? for those who are going for the first time, this is excellent advice!
And if you aren't lucky enough to have a waterproof camera, a dandy plastique "raincoat" made just for cameras!

I could have told you these two were not "les demoiselles de Cherbourg," in spite of the umbrellas :-) Great shot, Genie! Love the black and white. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
love it, especially your pov
Love this shot and the polka dot umbrella! :)
Wonderful shot, Genie! And make sure those shoes will grip the slippery cobblestones so you don't wind up on your derrière, with a broken camera, like someone I know.
You should have included warm outer wear. It gets quite chilly in Paris even in the "summer"!
The snow up here would collapse an umbrella. Still, those two look so perfect in Paris.
Parapluie is the best word, isn't it?
Nice! Perfect in B&W!
