The interior of this shop is even more charming than its windows. We found this charming mercerie (haberdasherie, notions store) with thousands of buttons, ribbons, silks, hats, feathers as we wandered out of Passage Choiseul.
In looking for more information, I discovered the wonderful history recounted here by Colleen of Colleen's Paris.
One thing is certain, at every turn you can uncover a story in Paris.

My grandma used to love visiting the local "mercerie," and I often got to tag along. It was difficult as a young child to resist touching everything. There were so many treasures around the small store! But we were warned before entering: "Les mains dans les poches!" (Keep your hands in your pockets!) -- When I visit Paris today with my American-born son, i catch myself saying the same thing to him: "Les mains dans les poches!" ;-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

I love these stores and I don't even sew.
Would they allow photographs inside? I was shut out twice this last trip and one was la Droguerie. I learned a lot about shooting through windows though!

Love this post and thanks for the link to Colleen's Paris...my kind of shop for sure. Name and address have been entered into my Paris moleskine book. I was dubious about buying a book of blank pages, but they are filling up quickly.
