With all the active fountains in January,
I wonder how many are flowing in the frigid temperatures of February.
The bright winter sun illuminated the fountain in Place de la Contrescarpe,
offset by a background of rouge.

Beautiful fountain and I love the splashing water -- particularly against the red background! Such a fun capture as always, Genie! Hope your week is going well! Enjoy!

Terrific shot, chere Genie! I'm with Sylvia..love the rouge.
Just wanted to let you know that Jamie had left a reply to our comments at Bonjour Happiness...I went back to check, and there they were!
And I am so glad you liked the items from VTCompany...I think we would look splendid strolling around Paris in them! :)
Thank you for your beautiful message...
Wishing you love,

De la dentelle naturelle... C'est magnifique.
Bravo, Genie! On voit bien là qu'en hiver, on peut faire d'aussi belles photos qu'en été.
Bisous!
That is a beautiful fountain and the red looks perfect in the background. Great shot.
Have a nice day
This is a sight that one would not see in Canada at this time of year.
I've always loved this fountain and sometimes stand for minutes looking at it.
quelle magnifique image. tu as eu de la chance, en général l'eau ne coule pas en hiver.
Lovely lacey waterflow from the fountain with just the right red contrast in the background. Very nice, Genie!
Reminds me of a sparkling crown.
The fountain is wonderful --- the rouge background makes it gorgeous!
This picture is so beautiful, great capture dear Genie!

Like your petits gateaux, fountains are also magical!
Upon closer inspection, I recognize the restaurant Delmas. Beautiful capture of this fountain. I love Richard's description - la dentelle naturelle.
Just beautiful. I always like pictures of ice, even though it can be so destructive.
We have a three tiered fountain near my church that was frozen solid last weekend. I hope this one is still gurgling in Paris!

I saw a picture of the Trocadero fountains frozen solid about a week ago—maybe this one was as well. You captured it beautifully, Genie.
With the cold snap in Europe, I'm surprised that the fountain isn't frozen! I've heard that it has gotten a bit warmer as of late.
Oh, the place Contrescarpe with my "mon café préféré" on the background! I wish to be there!
Thank you, Genie, for sharing it!

Love the shot Genie!!! Fast shutter speed???
Liquid silver...lovely feeling of movement set off by the red shutter.
Isn't it odd how many European fountains are still at work in the winter? This is a pretty picture.
Lovely fountain.
Love Al's "liquid silver" and Richard's melodic phrase "la dentelle naturelle"
It is good to know that Café Delmas in the background is good. We already know that the view is delightful and the passing flaneurs would provide the entertainment. Merci!
I have several photos of the Palais Royal fountain frozen as solid as an ice rink so I know that it does happen.
Loved reading your comments as always!
Bises,
Genie
I love fountains/water photos -- so, I can appreciate this perfect shot.
Blogger is getting more stupid by the day. Perhaps it's time to move to a different place.
Fabulous capture of the water. What a gorgeous image, Genie! As you know, water never freezes here, so all fountains are working. :-)
