Today is Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Carnivale....
It is last day to eat galette des rois, the last day of festivities before Ash Wednesday and Lent.
For us, far beyond Paris, we will be enjoying the last days of merriment, parades, and parties with hats.

The pastries look delicious, the hats are divine! My how time flies -- whether you're having fun or not! How can it be Ash Wednesday already!!! Marvelous captures as always, Genie! Enjoy!

Carnaval here too last day. Love the idea of waring hats on Mardi gras. Must be fun.
Are those hats edible?
Oh là, là!!!Les chapeaux sont magnifiques....Et les gateaux une tentation ...
Qu'est-ce que tu vas préparer pour cette journée?

What a glorious sight. I'm sitting here eating a salad as I type, so I feel I can afford to soak up as many of these eye calories as I wish to. Lovely, Genie.
Yum! and celebration :)
Hi Genie .. Looks more like merriment, parades and pastries. Save one for me.
Oh, what fun... Cakes and hats!
The pastries look delicious! In Austria we eat Krapfen, doughnuts filled with marmalade. You can see them today on my blog ;-)
We're having a family get-together this evening at our daughter's place. Pancakes and other delights, I expect.
Then comes Ash Wednesday.
Miam-miam --- les gâteux sont délicieux pour le bouche et des yeux! Je vais porter l'un des beaux chapeaux, regarder le défilé et manger un gâteau pistache. Bon journée!
all good things must come to an end. :(

Sigh...just another temptation and I love the hats in your photo...A~D~O~R~A~B~L~E. I remember donning an Easter bonnet as a child and loved it!
I wonder what they do with all the cakes they don't sell?
Thank you for reminding me to make pancakes for my girls tonight!
All I can say is yummy yum.
It all looks absolutely yummy! I wonder how many people give something up for Lent any more.
Delicious looking pastries and loved the colourful hats!
Fortunately, Genie, this is not part of my culture so I intend to keep on eating whatever looks good.
What will become of all the unbought/uneaten king cakes? I think that most will be consumed without a second thought. On Wednesday morning there will be many people chomping on a moon pie with their morning coffee, a moon pie caught flying through the air - hah!
As much as I love the period between Epiphany and Mardi Gras, I am glad to see it go and to get back to "normal" life, green salads, and healthy eating.
Now, the hats? I will miss them!
Bises,
Genie
