In our first hours in Paris, Holly and I met friends Peter,
Mary, and Virginia at Bistrot Victoires.
We plied our travel-weary selves with delicious tartines and Champagne.
As you can see from the menu, the tartines are made with Poilâne bread.
It was delicious enough that Holly and I came back
later in the week with sweet friend, Isabelle.
They did not seem to mind the crazy people with cameras
snapping every corner, zinc bar, and cranny!

Agree with French girl. I am a bit fan of such writing. Love the tones in this photo....and the food on the board. I used to buy bread at Poilane on Rue du Cherche-Midi. Yum.

Genie I'm sorry, I should visit more often because I just went back and was amazed by the number of good shots I missed. I went from oh! to ah! and loved the lot.
This one is a fine example of the spirit you manage to convey. It really makes us want to be there with you enjoying a tartine and champagne. I'm so glad you were able to take this trip to Paris with your daughter. Isn't that a gorgeous mother & daughter thing to do?

I like the mood there, old furniture,board, etc..very warm, like home!
What a beautiful place! Of course, I think every cafe in Paris is beautiful, so different than here in the US.

Tartine and champagne isn't a bad way to start a Paris trip. Have you eaten at the restaurant next to Poilậne? Also very tasty. But I don't think they serve champagne, so never mind.
BTW, if you ever get to Oakland again, definitely give a call.

We all agree on the blackboard writing, beautifully French! It was a great start of the time in Paris with friends, good food, and spirits!

Nathalie, you are right about the mother/daughter time, and I have enjoyed many trips with each (sometimes both) of my daughters.
I will have more photos of this bistrot which is probably not spectacular by Paris standards but incredibly charming to me.

For someone like me, without a camera or photographers eye, It would end in the cafe just sitting there staring and taking it all in. Every little detail. I'm so glad you are out there taking these!
