Romanian Orthodox Church of the Holy Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael

How could I have missed this church for so many years?
It is just around the corner from Place Maubert nestled between two ordinary buildings.
It was closed but showed signs of an active congregation.
I will be back...

bon dimanche

Ooooh, I love this mosaic! Romanian Orthodox ... sounds intriguing. I wonder what wonders are hidden inside! Bon dimanche.

I am amazed that we missed it as well - but not for much longer! With such beautiful gold decoration on the outside I cannot wait to see the inside!

Will be glad if you do go back there and show us more of this interesting church!
God bless you!

Beautiful mosaic! I love stained glass.

There doesn't appear to be much to make it stand out.

«Louis» missed this, too - and he was often in the 5 ème when he lived in Paris. He will watch your blog for more about this church.

I missed this church too, and I lived just a few blocks from here for a couple of years! Thanks for making me (very) belatedly aware, ma chère.
As for yesterday's gingko-covered pathways—wow! (That is the "tree that grows in Brooklyn" and so dear to my heart.)

What amazing artwork. It's beautiful even in b&w.

I think that this is the church that is near the hotel where I stay. I've not seen the interior but have heard glorious music emanating from within at Easter.
