That's an inviting picture, in black and white. Doesn't look like a cemetery at all; those could be houses. I suppose, on second thought, they are; I take it they are family crypts.
Actually, those could be two lovers out for a late-day stroll.

Bibi -- Just blow me away with a compliment, my dear! I love cemeteries and always seek them out on my travels. (Recoleta in Buenos Aires, Prague, and an old cemetery in Puerto Natales, Chile are favorites)

My blogfriend James was there a few days ago; Maybe it's him, down there, taking a picture! I love this place, it's so peaceful, and interesting and rich..
Bear! -- I missed your comments as I was responding... When I visit in December and cold months, there are not many tourists at all and it is possible to get great shots without the bermuda shorts, fanny-pack and white tennis-shoed tourist in every angle. You do see "local" people enjoying the solitude and the walks.
BTW, the photo is almost a virtual black and white, but if you look at the tombs on the far right, you will see green roofs. I almost made this a b/w but the tiny bit of color emphasizes the grayness of the day.
Malyss -- James of Newtown? This was taken some time ago but I always share the space there with other photographers, even when it is almost deserted. Hey, it could have been Laurent! Wouldn't it have been fun to run into another photographer (blogger) on the streets or in PL?

I studied this photograph for quite a while. So much to see and examine. The moss on the roofs of the crypts, the sunlight filtering through the trees, the man kneeling (in grief?) What an interesting picture!
Margaret -- So glad that a photographer noticed! The photo does beg to be in b/w, but the little touch of green just points out the natural grayness of that day. Merci!
Marjolijn -- You really must go when you visit Paris again. It is beautiful in all seasons. In the summer with its lush green colors and in winter with its stark grayness and bare trees.

Very nice long shot. I've never been to Paris, but am planning on visiting soon and will definitely visit this cemetery.
