Église Saint Pierre de Montmartre

Église Saint Pierre de Montmartre

Consecrated in 1147, this church is dwarfed by Sacre Coeur
and almost ignored by the tourists...
which makes it worth exploring.

Église Saint Pierre de Montmartre

Église Saint Pierre de Montmartre

Built on the site of a Roman temple and a 7th century Merovingian church,
Saint Pierre de Montmartre was consecrated in 1147
and is one of the oldest churches in Paris.

Although it sits in the shadow of the grand Sacre Coeur,
it has some fascinating features and architecture.
As the sun falls on the stained glass windows,
a kaleidoscope of  color splashes on the old stone floors.

Église Saint-Agnan de Chartres

Église Saint-Agnan de Chartres

Chartres is a quick train ride from Paris,
and an easy day trip.

If you are there to see the cathedral,
do not miss the other churches such as
Église Saint-Agnan de Chartres and Église Saint-Pierre.
Each is unique and exquisite in detail.
