What a lovely idea Genie.
ReplyDeleteI was just going to say the same thing! I never know what to buy as a little souvenir for myself when I'm on a trip...
ReplyDeleteHello Genie,
ReplyDeleteAnd how this post has brought happy memories flooding back to us....
The silver spoons you gave to us were polished within an inch of their lives just yesterday by Tímea. They are now sparkling at me as I write from their place of honour on our small mahogany side table, held within a silver cup.
How we should love to be strolling amongst these brocante stalls with you, gathering treasures.......
They now come with GPS chips so the original owners can track them down. :-)
ReplyDeleteOr purchase one place setting at a time ... Each one as unique as the guest seated at table :)
ReplyDeleteC enjoys using the special utensils you gave me and I think of you every time ((U))!!!
What a great idea for a thank you gift for our neighbor who brings in our mail and waters our plants - I always have a difficult time thinking of something she would love - she loves linens too but to stir her drink everyday with a spoon from Paris - oh la la!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind taking a few of those back with me!
ReplyDeleteI remember taking a picture of you as you came out of this shop—and also admiring those beautiful spoons that you brought for Jane and Lance. This post is just chock-a-block with good memories—merci, ma chère!
ReplyDeleteI would love one or two of those. They are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI like to wander antiques fairs. Lots of interesting stuff. Like these.
ReplyDeleteBetty and Joe, even something as ordinary as a demitasse cup to use as a holder for paperclips in an office is a great reminder of a travel memory, that is if you do not regularly drink expresso... If so, you will perhaps use it every day!
ReplyDeleteDear Jane and Lance, for me the bestowing of a small personal treasure is just as rewarding as having it. I get a warm feeling for all of you and know that I left a little bit of myself in Budapest with loving friends.
Revrunner, so funny, but I wonder how many of these items were sold by the children of the previous generation. I see so much of that in the USA.
M, I thought of curly-locks C when I selected this photo. I wish that I was there to play "tea party" with her.
Sillygirl, I would gladly look after your plants for a small trinket from Paris. You might even look for a little cream pitcher, something that could be tucked into the corner of your suitcase.
William, you might enjoy having one of the large place forks, so very different from what one might expect.
Alexa, I had forgotten about the photo, but will have to locate it again! Merci beaucoup... wonderful memories indeed.
Randy, it does not have to be expensive or a whole collection.
Jack, at least when I wander in another country, I am limited by what I can carry home.
Bises,
Genie
I love the idea of a single silver spoon. It would be a perfect take-home!
