Carrousel Montparnasse

Carrousel Montparnasse

Although this carrousel looks a bit shabby,
a close inspection reveals that it consists of the original wood horses.

Most of the carrousels in Paris today have been "updated"
and the wood replaced with artificial polymers and plastic.
These horses could do with a bit of paint, but all together look quite good.

  1. It is wonderful that some of the original horses still gallop around the carousel Genie.

  2. I love a nice carrousel! I will still ride on one if it's big enough for me not to look ridiculous.

  3. Theres something so lovely about a classic carousel. And it's even nicer with the original wood - much better than plastic!

  8. Happy New Year Genie... I love Carrousel horses... When I was young I thought how great it would be to restore the old wooden ones...

  9. A bit of a paintjob is needed, yes, but the original is more worthy than a replacement.

  10. If I had to choose between plastic/polymers and in-need-of-paint, it would be no contest. This is charming.

  11. What an amazing carrousel! I love that we can see the age and I bet this horse is well over a hundred years old.

  12. I love realize we all are still children in the heart! Well done!
"Be like children" and next time if possible, please anyone who could take a ride on a carousel, do it for all old-children and for children that never won't do it! Yeap. a deal?
A hug for you Genie, for Marcel (the horse) and for all your friends!

  13. This is shabby chic at its best. It would be shameful to paint it for the sake of looking updated. Have a wonderful 2015 Genie. Bisous
