Bassin de la Villette
If you really want to be among the Parisians, take a stroll along the quais of Bassin de la Villette on any weekend. It is a delightful spot for a picnic and for watching people.
Perhaps you will stop in Bar l'Ourcq for some
boules and a game of pétanque with friends.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad about this picture because it shows that not only old people play games, but young and fashion people too!

ReplyDeleteIt does look like a great place for people watching :)
ReplyDeleteGreat game and the tradition of "la Fannie" adds some color. Do have the scoreboard?

Boules is played all over Paris in parks. I love to sit and watch. It's a very democratic game ... young and old, rich and poor, a great mixture of people enjoying some time together. And so serious with so little contention. Did you ever see a serious argument over a boules game?
ReplyDeleteThe players always seem so serious
ReplyDeleteWow—you're up to XXII? That's a lot of pétanque, mon amie! (I love this in b and w.)
ReplyDeletewhat great faces!
