Le défilé du 14-Juillet

Quatorze Juillet

2008
The many regiments line up an hour or two
before the march down Avenue des Champs Elysées.

2013
In all, 4,800 troops marched in front of the presidential stage Sunday,
along with 241 horses, 265 vehicles and 58 planes.
Bringing up the rear was an array of 35 helicopters,
used in wartime and for civilian missions.

Precision parachutists landed
in front of the presidential stand to close the parade.

  15. Those marchers look very starched and crisp. I could never march like that. (It might be the lack of motivation.)

  16. Revrunner and Starman, you are both very observant. It makes me want to snap my fingers and say, "attention!"

I would love to see the parade again some year, getting there early enough to photograph all the regiments and uniforms.

A few years ago, I had another post of this group with a portrait of the young woman on the front row.

Joe, no, I did not count them but felt that there were twice that many. There is not so much of a parade as I normally think about it because after that many people line up, there was not too long a distance to march!

I wonder if Holland used the same little box as Sarkozy to look taller in the truck?

    Bises,
