Notre Dame
This 850 year old icon on the Paris landscape has greeted worshipers and tourists for centuries. For all of 2013 there will be special concerts and celebrations for this auspicious and grand cathedral.

What amazing atmosphere you've captured in this shot!
ReplyDeleteThe lighting in this photo reminds me very much of what it was like the day Rick and I were there. So rich and warm amidst all that cool and sheltering stone. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat words describe such magnificence? :). And you've captured it so well, Genie!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day! Lovely, soft, golden lighting makes for a superb photo!
ReplyDeleteI'm always struck by the warmth of the light in this huge stone cathedral—you've captured it perfectly. Happy Mother's Day, Genie!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds and photographers think alike!!! (a little self indulgence here!!!) In my first blog I posted a very similar pic of the same columns and chandeliers in Notre Dame!!! http://thechieftess.blogspot.com/2009/12/never-in-field-of-human-conflict-was-so.html
ReplyDeleteBon Dimanche !
ReplyDeleteThis is BEAUTIFUL, Genie. I will never forget my visit there. It was a highlight of all of my trips across the pond. the other genie
ReplyDeleteYou are off to Paris again on Wednesday, so I gather from Daryl. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame is not my favourite church in Paris, it's too crowded by far, but it is a must visit, your picture is particularly lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love reading the experience of others in Notre Dame... Just think, we could have run into each other gazing at the wonder of this cathedral!
ReplyDeleteLouise, you are right about the crowds. As I looked for a suitable photo for this post, I had many with "tourists" which spoils the scene. So many of my photos are "looking up" for that reason.
Julie, you are right, but cross your fingers as we are not there yet. Wish you could join us.
Bises,
Genie
How wonderful it would be to attend a concert in Notre Dame. On one of my rare visits monks were singing in this grand cathedral. It brought tears to my eyes.
