Jardin du Luxembourg
On my next trip to Paris I would like to play a game of Pétanque
but the regulars of Jardin du Luxembourg (and Tuileries)
would not likely embrace this American beginner.
Perhaps a trip to Bassin de la Villette in the 19ème
would be a better place to start.

Bisous

martinealison is right, Lyon is a fabulous city.
ReplyDeleteA bit of practice and I'm sure you could take on the challenge Genie.
ReplyDeleteFabulous image, I love the play of shapes, textures, and lines.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'd find some helpful people who'd love to help you learn, Genie!
ReplyDeleteFantastic idea! I will pitch in to rent some boules and we can spend a lovely afternoon with all the other people at the Bassin... But, do you really think that you would be able to stay in the circle as long as you were supposed to and not be tempted to step out and take photos???? Bisous!
ReplyDeleteyou'll most likely need to do something active after eating all of yesterday's macarons.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting fun game!Great picture!

Nice close up shot. I bet those shoes have played plenty of games of petanque.
ReplyDeletewhat a great photo!
ReplyDeleteI too would like to try - it looks absorbing
ReplyDeleteI saw people doing this at Tuileries but in my ignorance, I thought it was boules!
ReplyDeleteLa pétanque, comme le bridge, ou le golf est un milieu très fermé.
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't know, Genie—a cute southern belle like you ought to be able to flirt her way in!
ReplyDeleteI'm not very coordinated, so i would likely miss the balls. lol. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely picture. I'd love to play a game of petanque in Paris too. Are the sets supplied by the park, or do people bring their own? We have a set at home- but don't use it often enough, it is a fun game though, great for backyard barbeques.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous 'minimalist' image!!! So simple, but yet, what stories one's imagination can take flight. Love it!!
