Rue Mouffetard - les danseurs

Rue Mouffetard

Every Sunday a small crowd gathers on Rue Mouffetard
in front of Église Saint-Médard to sing and dance
to the music of Christian Bassoul.

It is easy to spot the regulars,
whose easy steps and spins are evidence of the Sunday routine.

All are welcome to participate
so if you find yourself in Paris on a Sunday morning,
find your way to this charming experience and....
dance.

  2. Your photo reminds me of a phrase I saw on a Cirque De Soleil brochure, "Dance Like No-one is Watching".

  5. The photo has a vintage feel - as if they could be dancing in another time - enhancing the romance.
I love it but then I think I love all your photos.
    Are you a professional photographer?

  6. The lady in this photo appears not to be the only one dancing on her shoes.

  7. I was going to say that I recognize a pair of dancing shoes when I see them. So who do they belong to, V? How nice to be a "regular" here!

  8. Seriously, Genie, they really don't want me to join the dancing. Two left feet.

  9. C'est une des rues de Paris la plus courue des touristes hélas, elle y perd en charme. Paris devient une ville musée...

  10. To see the regulars dancing so fluidly, is to take a trip back in time. It truly feels like a black and white shot with the music of another era.

I know that much of this is for the tourists, but there is no mistaking the joy in their feet. Once the street party ends, the regulars head to a bistro/bar to dance and play the afternoon away.

    Bises,
    Genie
