Métropolitain, la fenêtre, et le Vélib

Rouge times two

Safety in the streets of Paris suggests that one ring the little bell
and then pull over to the curb.
One can take photos while riding a Vélib,
but coming to a complete stop is best.

...and I did

There is more to this story, bien sûr

brrring, brrring!

Le Beaujolais nouveau arrive!

Just look at this lovely ink and watercolor
by dear friend Shell Sherree here!

  2. Hello Genie:
The red is so very striking and such fun - we love it all.

Very shortly we are leaving for a wet and watery Venice and will, as a result, be 'off air' for a week or so. We shall much look forward to catching up on our return.

  4. So, no 'drive-by' shootings for you! You're wise to pull over when using a Vélib.

  5. I am so proud of you! Riding one...or being brave enough to do so is on my bucket list!

  6. Good for you, Genie! And this is a beauty ~ worth ringing the bell and then some.

  8. One of the best ways to see Paris is on a Velib, another is to visit Genie's blog.

  9. Trying to shoot a photo while riding a bike is a bit like trying to text while driving a car....both can get you killed.

  10. Breathtaking red and magnificent windows. Those two things seem to be never ending in Paris, and that is a good thing!

  11. Peter, I hope that you enjoyed a glass today. Holly called to tell me that they were having a glass this evening.

Jane and Lance, I do hope that you will take your waders to Venice as it is reportedly quite deep in water.

Starman, yes, I know. We were very careful as I did not want to test the French healthcare system while I was visiting.

Bibi, that is something that I would have dared years ago. In my mature wisdom, it seemed prudent to stop the bike before shooting. (and pull out of the way of traffic - hah!)

Vreni, you were one who encouraged me.

To all, I will have a post about riding the Vélibs in Paris with a photo or two.

    Bises,
    Genie

  13. Missed this yesterday—but now I get to see it in duplicate. Shell has done this terrific photo proud, n'est-ce pas? Thought it wasn't possible for us Yanks to use the Velibs (something about American credit cards), but if you did ... yay! Next time for sure . . .
